Favorite Chain Restaurants

There have been some comments on other threads about certain restaurants being gun friendly as well as having mediocre to bad food.

Do you have some favorites that you frequently visit? I am not talking about fast food, but sit down places.

Babe's Chicken Dinner Restaurant. But I think they are only in the DFW area. And Carrabba's Italian Grill. Those are our two "go to" places for good food every time.

Cracker Barrel

We like Gengis Grill, El Fenix (I LIKE crappy texmex ok?!), but our ultimate favorite is Glorias! Love the Glorias. Its been our favorite since before we were married.

Cracker Barrel is our typical last morning breakfast of whatever vacation we are on. I love eating there, but I certainly eat about 3000 calories or more in one sitting... its not great for my health.

Cracker Barrel (on just about any interstate) and Kelly's Country Cookin (southeast Harris County) are tops on my list. Although an unfortunate post on Facebook by one of the waitresses at Kelly's will probably restrict our visits there for the time being - at my wife's insistence, of course.

We used to like Red Lobster, but a meal we received in Salt Lake City, October a year ago, has turned us way off of them. Talkin' 'bout shouldn't have paid...expletive deleted.

Texas Roadhouse and Logan's have fairly reasonable lunches as do Applebee's; however, if there is a POPEYES in that mix, look for us there.

After dark, you'll find us around our table at the home ranch, wherever that may be at that time.

Abuelo's and PF Changs. I just wish I could find one that has a separate kids section. Don't get me wrong, I love kids. I just cannot stand them running around and screaming when I am trying to enjoy an evening out. I mean if I was screaming they would ask me to leave. Why are kids given a pass? Complaints to management seem to fall on deaf ears. We walked out of the Outback in Killeen a few weeks ago. We called the manager over and asked for our drink bill (sodas) and he was mad as can be because our order had already been placed and the kitchen was already peparing it. Never once did he say that he would try to resolve the problem. My solution would be to do away with kids menus after 8-9:00 PM. I understand a crying baby but 2-10 year olds should have better social skills. (Flame suit on!)

Add movie theaters to the list. Worse, they give them discounts for ruining the movie for others.

Applebee's - once or twice every couple months
On The Border - once or twice every couple months
Salt Grass - once or twice a year

A few Chinese and Thai places, but they're not chains. We don't go out very much.

Leave the kids at home OR take 'em to Chuckee Cheese or another kid's place. I don't care to be assaulted by your kids and/or grandkids as adorable as they may be to YOU.

Saltgrass and Cracker Barrel are really about the only chain restaurants I eat at. I don't think you can get as good a steak at the price you do at Saltgrass, and Cracker Barrel is just good "down home" comfort food.

Now that I think of it, I guess Flemings is a chain so I'd add that. But that's a "date night" place. My wife and I can't get out of there for under $200 with food and wine.

Heck, I have two little ones and agree 100%! The restaurant is not a babysitter...watch your kids and make them behave! One time our youngest started to misbehave (she's 2.5 years old now...was around 2 at the time) and we left with out food to go. Nobody should have to listen to our crying child when they are out enjoying a dinner.
