RIA 1911 .38 Super arrives in meat drop @ Albertson's. Why?

A New Mexico Albertson's grocery store received a shipment of ribs that were packed at Swift Foods in Greeley, Colorado.
Inside the rib box was a Rock Island Armory 1911, chambered in .38 Super, as well as ammo (not stated how much).
The gun has not been reported stolen anywhere in the US. It will take weeks for the LEO's to track down the original buyer.

Why was this gun packed with the meat? Here's my initial speculations. Feel free to add your own ideas:

1. The Swift employee was carrying at work, saw his employer (or ICE) coming, and ditched the gun so as not to get caught with it.

2. The Swift employee was selling the gun to the truck driver, but communications went awry, or they couldn't remember which box it was in.

3. The Swift employee was intending on the gun going to a certain Albertson's, but it went elsewhere.

If the gun had been used in a crime, this would be a stupid way to get rid of it. You could throw it in a lake or bury it in the woods, in pieces.

I wonder if they'll let the Albertson's employee keep it if nobody comes forward?

Somebody at the packing plant was holding, got scared, dumped the gun.

That's my bet.

Maybe the Chick-Fil-A cows smuggled it in so their brethren could gain their freedom? :-)

And, where on the Albertson's website I do place my order? Little help here....

I'm hoping that's free delivery....

Should I go to Taco Bell, order the 12 pak, take it home and find a 1911 in the bag, I'd begin to clean it immediately after eating my 1/4 of the tacos. :smilelol5: YMMV.
