Pretty easy to criticize from a barstool when you're not in the situation. Until you are there yourself, you don't know what you will do. Trust me, I know.barstoolguru wrote:so was Audrey murphy or Alvin York trained for what they did. Warriors are forged on the battle field but heroes are found in the most unlikely places. Umm...yeah! They were infantry soldiers. They are trained for this exact thing. Going above and beyond is to each individual soldier. Even the military knows when to fall back, reassess, and build up a counter.
Well, you are more than welcome to do what you want to do when you find yourself in this situation. I will worry about myself, my wife, and my children. If you want to play Rambo, be my guest.

You have a gun and he has one too and his is jammed BUT you freeze and run for cover... I have to say he didn't need a CHL or a gun to protect himself because he was too busy hiding.Pretty easy to criticize from a barstool when you're not in the situation. Like I said we seen teachers die for their students while under fire to protect them so sorry if a can't jerk a tear for this coward
How do you train for getting shot at and if I remember right Alvin York was told to retreat and he refused and charged?Umm...yeah! They were infantry soldiers. They are trained for this exact thing. a coward dies a thousand deaths and a hero but one

barstoolguru , what branch of the military (or, LE agency) have you served in? Have you ever been under fire? Had a gun pulled on you?
I'm serious with my questions...just want to get a better understanding on why you think the way you do about this situation.

63G... F&E ranger, what does that matter? When I hear of this guy and how he didn't do anything I think of Susanna Hupp and Killeen, TX... what if? What if one person did something more than they did. You all want to pump his ego while he sits on that couch in shame then do so but don't expect me to do so
for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing and he accomplished that

You mean Fuel and Equipment repairer, not ranger. And, the difference is even spending time in the Army makes a difference on training. CHL's are not trained to fight or do anything but basically safely handle a gun and try to defend themselves if attacked. No matter, you think you would have been able to do something, but unless you are in the situations you really don't know what you would do. There is an old saying that fits here, 'Fools rush in where wise men fear to tread'. Sometimes NOT doing something is better than making it worse if you don't really know what to do.barstoolguru wrote:63G... F&E ranger, what does that matter? Re: CHL Holder in Mall Attack... video
We were fuel and electrical people but we were ready to fight at any time we were needed and that is why we were rangers (in our mind) in every sense of the word. We carry guns and we trained but we did our job; to support our brother and sister in arms. Say what you want but when the calling came we went to the field WITH our guns on my back to fix or fight.Keith B wrote:You mean Fuel and Equipment repairer, not ranger. Do you need CHL to want to do right? I don't see it; the teachers of that town protecting those kids didn't have training but did what was right. He was a coward plain and simple, real men run scared but real men stand up and fight even scared. real men died so you all have the right to sit here and tell the rest of us what a good man he was for just looking at the guy and then going to hide in a store not knowing if the shooter is going to shoot some more. Real men in the face of danger stand up and fight back not think about them self. He’s a security guard... fail ....he wants to be a cop....FAIL... he want to be a janitor....winner
Here is a man that is supposed to be a sheepdog and turned out to be a sheep in sheepdog’s clothing… someone get him a rock

maybe so (in your words) but this man has stood on the wall so you have the right to talk free so go praise the man that ran; just seems fitting for you.jmra wrote:I think someone fell off their barstool and hit their head.

Served my country straight out of high school. I was a year older than you when I joined but I thought it important to graduate high school first.barstoolguru wrote:maybe so (in your words) but this man has stood on the wall so you have the right to talk free so go praise the man that ran; just seems fitting for you.jmra wrote:I think someone fell off their barstool and hit their head.
My father, a very wise man, always said if you have nothing good to say then say nothing at all. So I guess our conversation is over.
