How many guns?

#1

Post by Lucky Luke »

Hello all,

I've my CHL for about a year now since my friend got killed in Houston and carried a Sig 220 in my car. I've CCW since Sandy Hook and just wondering how many guns can one carry with a CHL?

Thank you,

Welcome to the forum. :tiphat:

There is no limit of how many guns a person may carry, as long as they are concealed. ;-)

Great, thank you. I can't imagine carrying more than one. Unless I'm in Israel or Iraq.

Many people here carry two. A primary and a back-up in case the primary fails.
I just carry a Glock so failure is not a worry to me.

The issue isn't firearms, but practical planning for self-defense.

Clint Smith's famous maxim is: "Two is one; one is none." Words to remember.

Things fail. Under stress, things mechanical can fail; things operational can fail; and things human can fail.

But you can carry a backup-gun. And you can carry a knife and know how to use it. And you can carry a high-lumen flashlight.

I once saw Crossfire's husband start taking guns out and setting them down on a table as part of a CHL class demonstration. By the time he had finished, there were seven guns on the table. None were obvious before he started the exercise, and honestly I don't know if seven was all he had. It was all he was willing to divulge. No laws were broken, and no puppies died.

DPS used to hesitantly state "there CHL law does not appear to limit the number of firearms a licensee is allowed to carry" (paraphrased).

I typically carry one, occasionally carry two, and have been known to carry three.

The DPS FAQ #40 ("If licensed, can I carry more than one handgun?") now reads: "The law does not limit the number of handguns you may carry."

Video or it didn't happen. :evil2:

Seriously though, I would LOVE to learn how to conceal that many. I can't even find a decent ankle holster for my P238 (my Kimber is my primary).

That was it. Looks like they took out the non-committal language. :thumbs2:
