Has anyone in Grapevine been visited by the Feds?

Post by bagman45 »

Just saw a bit on the news about the "door to door, room to room" searches for the escaped convict from Miami. They showed video of armed officers with AR-15's showing up after dark, going into houses to "clear" them. They showed them, literally going room to room, with NO HOMEOWNER PRESENT. They asked one idiot whose house had just been searched, oops, I mean "cleared" how he felt about it. He said "reassured". THIS is what we're dealing with folks. WHAT, the sheep man wasn't sure that Morales wasn't in his house, so he had to invite the police in TO SEARCH (and inventory) IT??? :banghead: THAT'LL be the day. If they came knocking at my door, the conversation (held on my front porch, with front door shut/locked behind me) would sound something like this - Officer: "Sir, as you know, there is a very dangerous escaped convict who might be somewhere in the area. We are doing a safety check of all houses searching for him. We'd like to come into your home to have a look around to see what we can find; er, I mean to see if the escaped convict is hiding somewhere inside." Me: "No thanks, my home is secure". Officer, with AR-15 at the ready and SEVERAL armed reinforcement behind him: "sir, I insist, we MUST come inside and check your house!" Me: "do you have a signed search warrant?" Officer: "no, we don't need one in this situation, it's protect you and your neighbors." Me: "yes, you do. My home is secure, and I DON'T CONSENT TO ANY SEARCHES." Officer: "sir, please don't cause problems, you are getting in the way of me doing my job." Me: "do you have a search warrant?" Officer: "no, but I can get one; make it easy on yourself". Me: "Then go get one. In the meantime, please get off of my property." Welcome to the new USofA, in Texas, no less. Tyranny knows no bounds. :patriot:

Yeah, that's about how the conversation would go at my place, too.

If that man does show up and gains entry or tries to gain entry to my house I'll reassure them that I will give them a call to come and get him off either my yard or floor. However, I'm not in Grapevine, but I'm not too far away. About 10 miles.

I live scarily close to the Walmart he escaped from. I can assure the authorities that he isn't in my house and there is no way I'm letting them search.

I live and work in the vine. I have been clearing my house on my own, thank you. :tiphat:

The convo with the federales would be the same as the OP. :tiphat:

Edited to add: No, they have not come a knocking. Apparently I live too far away.

The whole point of broadcasting this is to normalize it and condition people to believe it is acceptable and routine. If it wasn't, instead of an uncritical broadcast, they'd be questioning and discussing the legality --but then, we don't have a "watchdog" media, we've got a lapdog media.

That guy is no where near Grapevine by now. If he was, The Annoyed Man would have already captured him. :smilelol5:

A friend of mine on FB lives within walking distance of the Walmart in question. She posted, "US Marshals just came by and asked to search our house and said they're looking for some fugitive in the area. What? Should I reconsider my job in the morning?"

:cryin She had no idea that any of this had happened.

:cryin She runs right past the area with no protection, and did so again even after speaking with the marshal.

:cryin She let the marshals search her house (although if she's that oblivious, maybe it's a good thing).

. . . and this is a SMART girl, too! Just naive.

When I worked the K9 unit we sometimes went house to house or yard to yard searching with dogs. If we were looking for armed and dangerous subjects, we had cover officers with ARs or shot guns covering us while we worked or our K9's. Usually we were in fresh pursuit of the suspect(s). If not we asked for consent and nobody ever had an issue with us doing the search as they knew we were looking for some bad person. Many a time we would have the helo make an announcement as to what were were doing and who we were looking for. As the suspect(s) bolted from one yard or house to the next, somebody would call 911 and tell us. That kind of help works great.

If they were looking for a suspect and wanted to go through my house and yard, it would depend on whether there was mud on their boots. :totap:
