TJ, to me it looks like the DHS is preparing for something none of us have ever seen, much less dreamed about. They are lining up the dominoes for something and I don't believe there are good or honorable intentions behind it.

The sad thing is, the majority of folks on both sides of the spectrum can't seem to figure out that, even if you trust the current douche in chief with sweeping extra-constitutional powers, that doesn't mean the next douche in chief can be trusted with them.

Why would the DHS order multi-millions of hollow point rounds? They cannot legally be used in a war outside the US. The official explanation is they are for practice. Anyone believe that one? Forget the tin foil hat.Obama has been signing a whole bunch of executive orders that can be implemented in the event of a major meltdown of society. That is what they are planning for.The crack down on guns for our "children's safety" while they stock pole weapons, ammo, armored vehicles, drones....

Worrying? Yes... but I honestly can't say I'm surprised. An airliner headed toward the White House could already be shot down by a military aircraft in an extreme situation.
As far as I know, though, we don't yet have air-to-air combat capable UAVs. Which would mean that Holder is talking about strikes on the ground, with the potential for collateral damage (which we already do in Pakistan on a fairly regular basis).
It wouldn't take much. People like us are already considered potential terrorists, and one tinfoil hatted kook shooting up a public place could push a lot of people over the edge.
A government that can kill without putting themselves at risk is going to be incredibly dangerous after they do it once. After that, it becomes much easier to order that launch.

It's the bit about it being "ordered" that bothers me. If this were just for if there's another LA bank shootout or something then I'd merely think it's way overkill, but Holder saying that Obama can "order" it makes it sound like he's talking about "solving the problem" of Glen Beck getting uppity with his anti-tolerance hate-speech. In some ways I find it more chilling than that invasion scene from the Red Dawn trailer.MadMonkey wrote:Worrying? Yes... but I honestly can't say I'm surprised. I believe this administration is certain there will be a serious breakdown of social order generally or by some groups. They obviously believe they will be able to use drone strikes on citizens without personal or political jeopardy. None of the scenarios meeting those conditions are good.

Yesterday, Attorney General Eric Holder clarified to Paul in a letter that the U.S. drone policy does authorize the use of military force on against Americans on U.S. soil in cases of "extraordinary circumstance."

You may be a drone target if you:
Express libertarian philosophies statements, bumper stickers.
Express Second Amendment-oriented views (NRA or gun club membership, holding a CCW permit)
Have Survivalist literature (fictional books such as “Patriots” and “One Second After” are mentioned by name)
Are Self-sufficiency (stockpiling food, ammo, hand tools, medical supplies)
Fear of economic collapse (buying gold and barter items)
Religious views concerning the book of Revelation (apocalypse, anti-Christ)
Expressed fears of Big Brother or big government
Homeschooling
Declarations of Constitutional rights and civil liberties
If not don't worry.
Belief in a New World Order conspiracy
