Brookesmith ISD Says Yes to Guns On Campus

#1

Post by JJVP »

"A locked door won't keep someone out that wants to come in. We feel this gives us at least some ability to keep our children safe, should something like that occur in our district. In conjunction with that at both of our entry ways to the district we are putting up signs that basically alert that Brookesmith ISD does have armed staff and that we will do whatever is necessary to protect our children," says Dr. Jay Smith.

Whoa! That is one heck of a sign. It's one thing to allow it, but to put up that sign too. Wow!!!

Wait, is it only the staff?

EDIT: Looks like it is only some of the staff and no teachers.

In most schools teachers are considered as staff.

Yes, but the article specifically says that no teachers will be armed so that there will not be any guns in classrooms with students. My use of "staff" was only to point out that if I had a child there I would still not be allowed to carry in my school.

Agreed, and we need the teachers as speed bumps also.

Is that sign real? I didn't see any link to it in the story, just a mention of signs.

I think it is real. The article does quote someone as saying they will put up signs that say that and there is that picture. Looks real to me.

Hope the momentum builds.

I have to wonder about drunks being used for this duty, though? 'loaded personnel'...?

"The superintendent says the loaded personnel will not be teachers. Guns will not be in the classroom and will be out of reach of any curious hands."

I found the story in another forum. Below is the post that explains how he got the picture.

Link here: http://www.defensivecarry.com/forum/sec ... ampus.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

For those that cannot access the site, here is a copy of the post.

So this morning I wake up to check my facebook and see my sister has posted this pic.

So I go to check the legitimacy of this story, and sure enough, it's real. Well, the story and the decision are real. I didn't see a pic of the sign to verify the validity of that, but since the super. mentions the sign, I'm going to assume the signs look something like this.

Way to go Texas! Surely this moves the state closer to cc on college/university campuses?

Now that is what I call a common sense solution to stop the tragic violence that could occur at scool shooting :thumbs2:

To my mind it is wholly irresponsible to go into the world incapable of preventing violence, injury, crime, and death. How feeble is the mindset to accept defenselessness. How unnatural. How cheap. How cowardly. How pathetic-TN
