GE Capital Cuts Off Lending to Gun Shops

#1

Post by TexDotCom »

"This month, Glenn Duncan, owner of Duncan's Outdoor Store in Bay City, Mich., said he received a letter from GE Capital Retail Bank in which the lender said it had made "the difficult decision" to stop providing financing services to his store. Other gun dealers have received similar notices."

Saw this in the little "Market Watch" widget on my USAA main page. Maybe they should step up to fill the void...

Your link requires a password to the WSJ. I hate to see this moral judgement by companies like GE. I wonder if they would loan the Boston bomber money to hire a real defense lawyer? On the other hand, if there is a profit to be made lending money for firearms another company will step in to fill the void. I wonder if the pressure cooker used in Boston bombing was a GE pressure cooker.

Lowe's uses GE Capital for their credit cards and business accounts.

I have already called and canceled my Lowe's Account and told them I could not do business with a company that opposed my Constitutional rights. I'll do the same with any other business I find using GE Capital

This will give opportunity to other financiers who will find retailers a good source of lending business.

Unless you need $500 million or something in funding, those outfits are no better, and in many ways worse, than other smaller lenders eager to have the business.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

I've seen that right here in Texas, in my lifetime. Bathrooms too. Praise God we've moved on, but you can never forget that this kind of evil was right here. "Progressives" (a misnomer if there ever was one) have been very emboldened ever since Obama's first election, and there is a big difference between them and us. We think they are wrong. They think we are evil. When a groupthink institutionally perceives someone as evil, groupthink gives itself permission to treat that person unconstitutionally. I don't know about separate drinking fountains, but I do know that it isn't that big of a step from A) kicking a middle-school student out of school for wearing an NRA T-shirt, trying to "shame" politicians for obeying their constituencies and failing to acquiesce to your ideology, raiding a home without a warrant because a father took a picture of his son safely handing a legally owned hunting rifle, and denying political asylum to homeschooling parents who will be imprisoned for the "crime" of homeschooling if deported to their country of origin, on the one hand; and B) requiring these same people to wear an identifying patch on their clothing to mark them as one of those evil reactionary booojwah counter-revolutionaries on the other hand.

Carters Country uses them too. Although if GE is exiting the gun business, they may not be using them for long.
Thanks,

The best thing I ever did was about 5 years ago, paid off ALL my credit cards and cancelled them. Do not have a single credit card. I use my bank debit card which can be used as a credit card if needed, but if the money isn't in my account or I can't pay cash, I don't buy. You wouldn't believe how much money I have saved over the years by doing this on little thing. BTW, half the cards I cancelled were GE Capital backed. They were the worst on all counts.
