yeah, I used them thar Monarchs in the .357 variety this weekend.
it was worth me driving aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall the way across Lewisville to save the $4, being as The Corporation (WalMart) didn't have the .357 WinClean, nor anything less than a twenny spot.
seemed to shoot straight.

How were they for extraction?

From the Barnaul web page:

Superior Quality & Reliability
Russia's premier ammunition manufacturer has over 100 years of experience in ammunition excellence. All Barnaul Ammunition are non-corrosive, new production and use environmentally safe primers.
Mine was brass-cased and said it was made in Serbia.

EDIT: looking this up further, it looks like the ammo was made by Prvi Partizan. The marking on the casings confirms this. I was not able to find anything on the Prvi Partizan site as to whether their ammo is corrosive or not, but I could not find anything to confirm that it is corrosive, either. Aim Surplus claims that all of their Prvi Partizan ammo is non-corrosive.

Sounds Like its the gun not the ammo.

Yeah, monarch should be boycotted because of their garbage ammo.

But I must say, that My PX4 Storm eats and spits everything I put in it like it was all Cor-Bon.

This didn't cause concern for me in this situation as I was cleaning my gun immediately after my shooting session anyway, but it is something to keep in mind for the future. I'll probably go with WWB or S&B for cheap plinking ammo in the future, simply because I don't want something like corrosive ammo degrading the crisp rifling and shiny bore of my pretty new pistol. ;-)
As stated, it might shoot "dirty", but it definitely is not corrosive. WWB and Blazer are at least as dirty as brass or steel-cased Monarch.

had to chime in.....

I've put thousands of 45 and 9mm rounds of cci blazer through 2 glocks, and HK, a hipoint, keltec and an xd with zero problems

haven't tried any monarch in my pistols, but I started a stockpile of it for my 30-30  and still adding to it

I've had no problems with the brass cased (green box) Monarch in 9mm or .45ACP. I have had a few issues with the same (green box) brand in 30-30. Every 3rd or 4th round I have difficulty opening the lever on my Marlin 336. It only occurs with the Monarch ammo.

I ran a couple thousand rds of Monarch brass through my Glocks with no hiccups. They do shoot softer than the Blazer aluminums though.

ahh, I got the black box Monarch for my 30-30 and had no problems.
I'm going to get some 9 and 45 and give it a try.

I was helping a friend with his rifle last week, and he was using monarch and some other off-brand .223. he was having constant FTF's and FTE's.

I looked over his rifle, and it looked fine. I fired the same ammo in my rifle, no problem.

It was his magazines. The monarch fired with my magazines in his rifle just fine.

At least with AR-15's, getting USGI spec mags really matters.

I've run one box of 9mm Monarchs through my P99, with no problems at all. Ran a second box through a friend's Hi-Power, and no problems there either. I could not tell if they are any dirtier than anything else I've used so far, but then again it was only one box per.

At any rate, I'll just continue to use Blazer, since it's cheaper and works just as well, and from a company that I favor much more. My two 9mm pistols will eat Blazer all day long. Come to think of it, they will eat most anything all day long.....

I was gifted with four boxes of Monarch in 9mm at Christmas time. Shot fine in my Kahr and Glock both. It was a little dirtier than Winchester, not as dirty as Blazer aluminum case, but since I clean after each session at the range it was not a problem. No malfunctions at all.

I know this is an older topic, but it seemed silly to start another thread just to talk about my experience. I took my new Taurus PT24/7pro to the range a couple weeks ago and my buddy brought his new Ruger KP95. I brought along 1000 rnds of 9mm CCI Blazer aluminum ammo and 400 rounds of 9mm Monarch brass cased green box. My Taurus would FTE the Monarch every other round if it was able to eject the 1st one. The CCI fed like a champ. I tossed the rest of the Monarch to my buddy with the Ruger and it fed just fine.

It all depends on the gun.

Never bought their pistol ammo, but their .30-06 and .243 shoots just as well as anything I could pay twice as much for, and the .243 ejects so uniformly that I could catch it all in a bucket if I ever remembered to take one out to the range.

Last time I had it out, I fired 50rds and picked up 49 cases in about a 2ft radius circle. The missing one is probably under the cactus at the edge of that circle, but I'm not that hard up for brass, even in .243.
