Well, I just got off the phone with DPS and they said they could not tell me if my record had been queried. I couldn't get through to TLETS, so I talked to the CHL division.

I am embarrassed to admit I did not consider that. However, it is a possibility. If a LEO or LE communications operator runs the Driver License for them, the CHL would show. Doing that can cost the person their job, a HUGE fine and also a fine to the agency, I believe.

I don't have any advice on this. I just feel badly for you. It's a shame that your employer is treating a testament of your good character as evidence of future wrong-doing.

CHL and Martial Arts are treated with the same disdain, I study both.
If people at your workplace discover that you study either one, you are looked upon as 'dangerous'. To demonstrate this point, I once had a 'chat' with someone at work about his rude (drunken) behaviour and told him to knock it off because he was irritating me and others. He asked if I was going to 'karate chop' him. Although I could have easily applied the technique to his mouth, it was better to de-escalate and walk away.

He later appologized and conceeded that he knows I could have easily taken advantage of his condition, and appreciated my restraint.

Just because you posses the knowledge, doesn't mean you have to use it.

If the company has a strict no-guns policy, and they know you are a CHL holder, they could resonably suspect you might choose to violate that policy.

On the other hand (trying to be positive here) an enlightened employer might like to know that if someone goes postal in the workplace, old Bob probably has a weapon in the car (wink) and might be able to influence the outcome.

Speaking of employers and CHL, does anyone else here work for Lockheed in Fort Worth? The Employee Handbook prohibits "(a) Possessing firearms, ammunition, explosives or weapons on Company property; introducing or attempting to introduce these weapons into Company facilities." I would like to have my carry piece in my car so I am protected as I drive to and from work. Many of us (males and females) work odd shifts and it's not uncommon to be driving alone at night. I want to ask but in light of this thread, I'm really hesitant to bring it up.

Does anyone here feel like calling anonymously to ask about the policy?

This is true. We are also subject to search of our person OR vehicle. I REALLY hope the legislation that grants us the right to keep a weapon secured in our vehicle makes it into law!

I don't think they will need an exception. I believe the company is on federal property.
