Shameful and disturbing. And let's not forget the other kind of welfare that also adds to our ever increasing debt:

Re: Our welfare system recipients.
Everyone who needs/gets public assistance should be required to donate an equitable number of hours of labor each month to some community program that needs help. If you don't want a "job" fine. You should still have to do something that gives back to the society you want to treat you like a dependent. I know this will never happen, but it's nice to wish for.
The thing that bothers me is it's the worst of the mob that steps up for free stuff that would turn to violent riots if the gravy train ever stopped due to our nation finally collapsing under the weight of it's own financial stupidity.

A PERFECT view of the folks that allowed the Obama disaster to finish off what was left of our country.

Re: Our welfare system recipients.
Let's be specific - welfare isn't the problem (currently) it's disability. I don't know if you mean them as the same thing, but right now we've got waaay too many "totally disabled" people getting checks from the government that could otherwise be productive members of society...
In a little "jest" - I call it "New Jersey Retirement" - mainly because I know a few recipients from that state.
Attorneys build practices around it... It is an epidemic. Welfare...well, that's not that high on my radar.

Re: Our welfare system recipients.
Government handouts in all forms are the problem. When charity is private sector, especially when it is local, people have a motivation to make their limited resources help the most deserving people. They have the power to deny (or give) benefits based on common sense instead of bureaucratic policy. They can spend funds in a way that attracts more donors instead of buying the votes of the recipients. In short, private sector understands the difference between charity and communism.cb1000rider wrote:Let's be specific - welfare isn't the problem (currently) it's disability. Re: Our welfare system recipients.
A large percentage of welfare recipients have no intention of ever working at an honest job, stop using drugs, producing children out of wedlock, supporting their families, or performing any other part of what can be counted as responsible behavior.
A large percentage of illegals do not want to be citizens. A large percentage of those who will be granted amnesty are now or will become welfare recipients. When they are granted voting rights they will continue to vote for their money. Even if they work and start to pay taxes , few of them will ever get to the point of paying in more taxes than they consume in welafare. Remember, the lower 47% of wageearners do not pay taxes - they receive earned income credits which is in and of itself welfare.
THE ONLY MONEY THE GOVERNMENT CAN SPEND IS MONEY THEY GET FROM TAXING US.
Where is that reboot switch?

I'm curious if you can reference the facts that these statements are based on?anygunanywhere wrote: A large percentage of illegals do not want to be citizens. Again, I question the statements of fact here. Every "illegal" that I've met came to the USA to work, not for welfare, but that's beside the point.anygunanywhere wrote: Even if they work and start to pay taxes , few of them will ever get to the point of paying in more taxes than they consume in welafare. The truth is that undocumented (illegal) immigrants are not eligible for public welfare benefits. Ever. There may be an exception granted if they have a child in the US (US citizen), but they can't show up here illegally and receive public assistance outside of emergency medical care.
Legal immigrants have to pay into the system for 10 years before they become eligible for government assistance.
And it's hard to get earned income tax credits if you don't file taxes because you don't have a social security number.
I'm not against having a rational discussion here... But we've got to keep it factual.

Anchor babies.Surprise, surprise; Census Bureau data reveals that most U.S. families headed by illegal immigrants use taxpayer-funded welfare programs on behalf of their American-born anchor babies.Even before the recession, immigrant households with children used welfare programs at consistently higher rates than natives, according to the extensive census data collected and analyzed by a nonpartisanWashington D.C. group dedicated to researching legal and illegal immigration in the U.S.
The results, published this month in a lengthy report, are hardly surprising.Basically, the majority of households across the country benefitting from publicly-funded welfare programs are headed by immigrants, both legal and illegal. States where immigrant households with children have the highest welfare use rates are Arizona (62%), Texas, California and New York with 61% each and Pennsylvania(59%).The study focused on eight major welfare programs that cost the government $517 billion the year they were examined.
Also, many illegals use stolen or fraudulent social security neumbers to collect benefits and file tax returns.

The fraud is out there. You can ignore it all you want but that does not mean it does not exist. They are here, they get the welfare, and when they are given amnesty they will vote dumbocrat.Agency also assigned 15,796 taxpayer IDS to ‘unauthorized aliens’ at single residence
(CNS News) – The Internal Revenue Service sent 23,994 tax refunds worth a combined $46,378,040 to “unauthorized” alien workers who all used the same address in Atlanta, Ga., in 2011, according to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA).
That was not the only Atlanta address theoretically occupied by thousands of “unauthorized” alien workers receiving millions in federal tax refunds in 2011. In fact, according to a TIGTA audit report published last year, four of the top ten addresses to which the IRS sent thousands of tax refunds to “unauthorized” aliens were in Atlanta.
