Looking for suggestions

#1

Post by Robbo85 »

i recently took the concealed hand gun class, i passed with flying colors, i like guns and consider my self fairly knowlegable of them but i am looking for a compact pistol to carry. I currently own a handfull of .45's, but Im leaning towards a compact .40 but i just don't know. I do know that i do not want to carry a 9mm, because i think the stopping power just isn't there. I am open to suggestions.

HK USPc 40.

No matter how much I like my Glock, I carry guns with external safety.
Please help the wounded store owner who fought off 3 robbers. He doesn't have medical insurance.

Hmmmm ... ' Been hangin' out with mostly .45 guys for the last 10 to 15 years maybe?

It's a whole 'nuther topic which has been beat to death here and there, but the bottom line concensus is, that with modern self defensive ammo, there is not a heck of a lot of difference in the "stopping power" between 9mm, .40 and .45. (They can all be lousy "stoppers".)

Kahr is another mfgr. of popular "compact" carry guns you may want to consider. But, (as with other mfgrs.) for those who've actually tested themselves with a timer, most folks can keep considerably more rounds on target in less time with the 9s than the ones "that begin with a 4".

If you already a handfull of .45's then get a compact .40 like one of them. This way you have the same controls on both. Training with one is like training with both.

+1 for a glck 23. I carry the C model in a comp tac holster, well thats what I will carry when I get my plastic in hand. My wife likes mine so much that we are saving for a second 23c model.

since you don't like 9mm, get a .38spl either S&W 642, or Taurus 85
or a .380 Auto. I like Bersa Thunders, personally.

Personally, I just carry a .45...

Some good suggestions here.

The Kahr PM-9 will fit into a pocket.

Straight no-frills, Glock 23...Stock sights, plain jane...

Of course, I may carry something else from time to time but that is a rarity...

You get used to something, and you just don't have to think about it anymore...And focus on the things that keep you out of trouble...

I carry a G19 .9mm

IMO, It doesn't matter what gun you use, .9mm, .40, or .45. If it gets the job done, then its an A+ in my book.

"Im leaning towards a compact .40 but i just don't know"

I also carry a Sig 239 in 40 and 229 in 40. I find myself carrying the G26, yes 9mm, more because of ease in concealment and very comfortable to carry.BTW, I am also a big 1911 nut and have Colt officers' that has been customized to my liking.Don't take out the 9mm's for carry. My .02 cents.

Are you just opposed to carrying one of your 45s?
