I know that there’s been commentary about the fact that the “Stand Your Ground” laws in Florida were not used as a defense in the case.
On the other hand, if we’re sending a message as a society in our communities that someone who is armed potentially has the right to use those firearms, even if there’s a way for them to exit from a situation, is that really going to be contributing to the kind of peace and security and order that we’d like to see?
And for those who — who resist that idea, that we should think about something like these Stand Your Ground laws, I just ask people to consider, if Trayvon Martin was of age and armed, could he have stood his ground on that sidewalk? And do we actually think that he would have been justified in shooting Mr. Zimmerman, who had followed him in a car, because he felt threatened? And if the answer to that question is at least ambiguous, then it seems to me that we might want to examine those kinds of laws.
That someone feels threatened is not grounds for the use of deadly force. Surely a "Constitutional Scholar" and lecturer on same would be able to understand that?
You know, when Trayvon Martin was first shot, I said that this could have been my son. Another way of saying that is Trayvon Martin could have been me, 35 years ago.
This guy has been, and continues to be, way out of control.
I try to stay out of political threads but its curious, this surprise speech occurs the same day as the IRS stuff is potentially linked to a political level official in Washington (aka ab appointee). Curious...
He is insufferable. I do not think the timing of this statement is coincidence. The IRS has been shown to be involved in illegal targeting of political adversaries in what would appear to be an effort to throw an election. So he goes out there and throws a little gasoline on the smoldering TM/Z issue to try and distract from the criminal actions of his administration and possible election manipulation.
As an aside he need to comport himself with the dignity of the office in which he has found himself. He has not they far seen fit to do so,

Yup this guy is the best at the game of distract & don't let um look at my record. Sad part is that more than 50% of voters in the last election bought it.

He takes the 'never let a crisis go to waste' to a whole other level! This has nothing to do with the case, its all about another run at gun control. He is a political tool who has no respect for, well, for anything.
Just ramping up the temperature to go after Stand your Ground/Self Defense laws. This community organizer fellow sure is organizing love and harmony across the nation?
The speech is troubling and a sad day for America.

The answer to the question is not ambiguous. You can't shoot someone for / because you feel threatened. You can defend yourself, with deadly force if necessary, if attacked. I would like to think they just don't get it, but they do....
Make no mistake about it Obama wants to rip this nation apart - gut it - dismember it - in order to make way for a Marxist takeover.
The American people have allowed themselves to be dupped by Marxists calling themselves "progressives" since the mid-1970's.
The only good Democrat right now IMHO would be the ones declaring that they are "independent", Libertarian, or Republican.
The rest are communists....... Obama, Holder, Axlerod, Jarrett, on and on. Everyone supporting him is aiding and abetting a communist takeover of our country- whether they realize it or not.
This incitement to riot "speech" today was designed to maximize turnout at Sharpton's " peaceful demonstrations" (RIOTS) tomorrow across the nation.
Advise family members to be cautious tomorrow . Emotions are on edge, and the greater the numbers - the greater the guarantee of violence.
Where in the H--- are the patriots in the U.S. Congress, and the armed forces ? This nation needs some urgent pest control servicing.

There is increasing documentation showing the Obama regime was involved in forcing the state to prosecute Zimmerman so double jeopardy would come into play and any such prosecution would get tossed by the courts STAT. At least it would in the United States we knew. With this batch of Soviets, who knows.
