Be careful... I believe that the new laws eliminated the grace period... :???:

I hope this all gets sorted out before I have to renew, in October 2017!

I hope to still be alive.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

I think this takes care of the backlog from Sept 1

HB48:

Relating to the procedure under which a person may renew a license to carry a concealed handgun.
Impact: 1) Removes the requirement to take a renewal course to renew a CHL; 2) Allows a person to continue to carry a handgun in Texas on an expired CHL, if a) they timely filed the required renewal documents; b) paid the renewal fee; and c) have not been notified by DPS that the renewal application was denied.
Status: Final passage 5/21/13.
"A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives a moderate exercise to the Body, it gives boldness, enterprise, and independence to the mind . . . Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks."

Thanks for the info, this will be my case since I will renew on 9/1 and my CHL expires mid October and I'm guessing I won't have the renewed plastic by then.

I guess the DPS website will be down on Sept 1st (or maybe the 1st week of September) because it will get overloaded with renewals. Image

I could've sworn Charles said that "grace period" parts was deleted??? Did that come from the TX legislature site?

Mine expired/up for renewal Sept 4, I don't put anything off so I renewed in March. Oh well, didn't mind taking shooting class over or qualifying. :patriot:

Did the same thing. Mine was set to expire 9/2.

I just renewed, Sept 2, 2013 11:49AM.

Still has requirement for training: CHL-100 Certificate of Training (received from CHL instructor upon course completion)

I wonder if I should have waited a few days?

My CHL expires October 18,2013 and I need to renew ASAP. Where are new post September 1 renewal forms available? DPS has not changed the old form on line.
