TCHA Power Point
Just wondered if anyone had seen the TCHA Power Point Presentation. I got a note this morning wanting to sell it for $30. I was thinking about buying it but would like to have someone's opinion that had seen it. I have mine but things are so different it may take a while before I am comfortable with it.

And... you think you'll be MORE comfortable with somebody else's?

Just hoping that it was more complete than mine that I might have missed something in mine although I am sure mine fits my teaching style better. Thinking I might be able to integrate both of them together and get a better one in the end.

Re: TCHA Power Point
I was willing to give 'em the thirty bucks on the chance it might give me some fresh ideas and/or save a bit of time as I tweak my material.
Unfortunately, when I went there, the only thing I could find was (what I assume to be) the old version priced at $60. To top it off, it apparently cannot be downloaded, you have to wait for a CD in the mail.
I'd also love to hear from anyone that has seen the new version.

It does say it can not be downloaded, also a note that the disk can not be copied you get only one copy. I hope it can be installed on more than one computer.

If it's on CD, then it 'technically' can be copied. However, per the Right to Use Agreement you agree not to. I am sure they want you to run it off of the CD. But, legally you have the right ot make backups of any of your software. You just can't share it with others. So, if you can back it up to multipole computers you use, and only use one copy at a time, then that is legal.6 Point Star wrote:It does say it can not be downloaded, also a note that the disk can not be copied you get only one copy. You have a legal right to copy the CD for archival purposes. Just can't copy it and give to someone else.

Re: TCHA Power Point
The CD is just the transport medium. They tell you right in the instructions not to try to run the presentation from the CD. To attempt to put some sort of copy protection on the CD would be fruitless, since you must copy the files to your computer for them to be useful. Once copied, burning them to another CD would be a very simple matter. Their statement might better be worded: " You are not allowed to copy this CD - you own one copy."
Which makes their inability to allow, or decision to not allow downloading all the more silly.
I guess no one has seen the new version? Anyone? Beuller?

Re: TCHA Power Point
I think they show the amount of thought they put into this with these two statements:
Copy this CD on to your hard drive.
...
THIS CD CAN NOT BE COPIED

Re: TCHA Power Point
I have the old $60 version which I brought in June. Still in the process of updating it as my first class is Oct 27th.
Really like what they did and it is also very entertaining in the presentation.

Re: TCHA Power Point
I would like to order this presentation just for reference. I figure anything that makes me a better instructor is worth looking in to. I tried to order one but I am not paying $15 to ship a CD, which appears to be the cheapest method of delivery! Folks that charge outrageous shipping and handling charger really chap me!

Re: TCHA Power Point
I have to agree... $15 to mail a CD is appalling. If the product is worth $45 (and it might well be), then be honest enough to charge that for it and ship it at cost, or better yet, for free. It's bad enough to waste the customer's time by forcing them to wait for snail mail, but then to stick it to them with a "shipping" cost like that... just sad.
I have written to TCHA to see if we're missing something here. I'll let you know if there is a response.
