I don't have them on any of my guns, but that's going to change very soon. I have shot two pistols with the Big Dot (a/k/a "golf ball") sights and was pretty impressed. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to fire more than one mag each, so I hardly gave them a good workout.

A close friend called this week and said "you've got to get the Big Dot sight on the 1911 you carry! They are the greatest sight for combat." He has a lot of experience and is only 2 years younger than me, so he has "vintage" eyes too. I've researched these sights a good bit and the most commonly heard comment that they are not good for distances beyond 15 yards or so simply isn't true. More importantly, when you're "moving, shouting, and shooting," actually seeing the golf ball is far better than ignoring the small blade front sight, as most people are prone to do.

The sights on my HiPower are my only gripe about it. Need to look into my options if any. Interested in learning more about these as well.

I have these on my XD(M)45 Compact 3.8, and I've become a big believer in them:

They are the Trijicon HD tritium sights.

The front sight is similar to the XS sight except that the plastic insert surrounding the front tritium lamp is colored orange (also available in yellow) and it is phosphorescent and glows in the dark for a while after you transition from sunlight to low light. It also glows VERY brightly in sunlight. When it stops phosphorescing, you still have the tritium lamp.

The rear sight has two tritium lamps in black inserts, inset into the serrated black rear face. The rear notch is a broad "U" shape which has plenty of room to accommodate the oversized front dot, and you really don't see the rear tritium lamps unless the light is low enough for them to stand out. The front face of the rear sight stands up straight so that it can be used to rack the slide.

These have become my favorite sights by far, although I do like the XS sights.

I put the XS big dot on my shield and my groups became more like shotgun patterns.
I swapped them out for the Truglo Tritium / fiber optic sights and the groups got small again.
I really like these, the Tritium gives you night sights and the fiber optic glows in daylight.

I won two different sets of XS sights in IDPA matches, but never received return calls when I tried to redeem my gift certificates.

I have them on almost all my carry pistols. I have been using them for about three years. I even have a front sight on my HD Shotgun.

They are based out of Ft. Worth and the customer service is fantastic. They are just off of I-30 East of downtown. I have walked in on two occasions and they immediately was a help.

Beware the rear sight of the S&W pistols are white stripe only, no Tritium.

If you are looking for tight grouping and/or shooting the center out of the 10 ring, these sights are not for you. If you are looking for quick target acquisition in combat-style shooting, these sights are great!

Did you watch the guy in the above video knock over a small steel popper at 50, 75, and 100 yards with these sights? The sights on my XD(M), which are very similar, are excellent sights for accurate shooting.......knocking the X-rings out of targets.......if one has the skills and the eyes.

Thanks for the help. I'm really looking for tighter groups and some night sights. I'm not a fan of stock glock sights.

Wasn't intended to be rude. Some people think they need to put posts in multiple categories to make sure they are seen. Since you hsd posted in 2 different caregories, it didn't appear to be an accidental double post. Was just letting you know that wasn't necessary here.

I ran these sights for a while in 2006 andf had to get rid of them. I could not a 10 yard head shot on an IDPA target with them. I do love them on a shotgun. I really wanted to like these sights....
