School scanning drivers license

One of my major concerns is the ability for CHL to be viewed when drivers license is scanned, it's not like I can ask the school to verify my worry because that would kind of throwing the whole privacy part out the window. I am very weary of data bases in general, now it is a federal system (school) we are talking about and my tinfoil hat is hearing "backdoor loophole", I see too many what ifs here. I have done a bit of research and found a couple in Texas that tried to fight this system at their school and their case was ruled in favor of the school by the Supreme Court. Not sure how I will proceed, but I appreciate the input.This might just be the deciding factor of whether or not I have had enough and homeschool from now on.

For those of you so worried about the school scanning a drivers license, have you gotten on the healthcare exchange to get s white? How did you feel about inputting your private income, identification and social security numbers?

It is scary how accurate the security questions are after you only enter your name.

They were multiple choice questions and they knew everything.

I read here how the teachers don't want background checks I've worked several investigations involving teachers/school staff members and illegal sexual relations with students

In Texas, school personnel are run through the DPS background check once a year... they don't have any say in it. It's been the law for at least four years, possibly as long as eight years, now.

My CHL status is on my DL and that's none of their business.

As Old Cannon stated: As I understand, you can't "scan" licenses unless conducting official state business (i.e., Law Enforcement).

Sorry, but giving up confidential information for the school's convenience isn't something I'm willing to do.

If you're coming into a school building for some reason, you'll most likely do it, or you'll be denied access to the school. Sorry. It's not for the school's convenience - we could care less if you have a CHL or not. It's to make sure you do not have a sex-offender criminal history.

And yes, we apparently do have some parents at our high school who do have a sexual predator criminal history, and they're usually are denied entry to the school. If they need access to their child, the student is brought to the office where the parent is. I only know of 1 time that the parent was allowed access to the school, and he was escorted all the way by one of our SRO's (a Denton Co. Sherrif's Deputy, in that case).

Would anyone in their right mind want it any other way?

I don't understand what you mean by the above. I'm sure it was a simple typo...but until corrected, I have no clue know what you precisely meant.

However, I won't/haven't gotten on the healthcare exchange - So they don't get my confidential particulars. (with my help anyway...)

Back to the topic: There are other, simple and effective means to find out if a person is a sex offender without having to have a DL scanned.

I had a look a few years ago, I think by zip code, for the sex offenders in my area and was startled to see how many there were. It was quite easy and fast to look up. I didn't need to see a DL or go to great lengths or time to find out. The schools can do the same...

I also don't wily nily give out my SS number to every person or entity that demands it. I did once. Not anymore.

A few businesses insisted they had to have it. My response was if you want my business you can do without it or I walk. Very few insisted thereafter...

The NSA copies every email you send, everything you post, and even Angela Merkel's cell phone conversations. I don't think the local school scanning your ID to do a quick check against predators is a big deal. As a frequent visitor to different companies, often the more established ones will get a copy of your ID, take a pic of you and everything.

They have been doing it here for years. It is checking for sexual offenders. Nothing wrong with that. Their scan won't turn up chl status. Just whether or not you are a baby raper or other sexual offender. I don't think it checks for anything else.

Not only do they scan our driver licenses and copies of our social security cards, but we are now fingerprinted.

A state ID has a name and a picture on it. The receptionist has no way of scanning someone's face into the sex offender database.
