Massad Ayoub
I hope I can post this here. It might be of interest to other instructors (and their students).
Massad is going to be presenting MAG20, his 2 day lecture on Use of Force, What to do after a shooting, in Austin - Mar 8-9.

wow. I might attend that. I've already been through the OIS route so I'm not worried there. I just want to hear him speak.

http://massadayoobgroup.com/mag-20-classroom/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is showing $400, KR's web site showing $450. What's another $50 ... for "bring your own for working lunch" and back-to-back 10 hour days ?

Wow, It sounds like such an inviting, comfortable environment. How could anybody turn THIS down… (Bring your own porta-potty, too?)Greybeard wrote:http://massadayoobgroup.com/mag-20-classroom/ is showing $400, KR's web site showing $450. Please bring your own lunches, snacks, beverages etc. We have a “working lunch” in all classes. Many of our facilities do not have a place close enough to purchase meals and get back in a reasonable amount of time. Also remember that many of our classes are 10 hour days so if you need another meal in that amount of time please bring it. Bring water, while we do provide water at all of our locations, it never hurts to bring some more. We teach in many locations and cannot guarantee the comfort of the chairs, if that might be an issue for you feel free to bring a cushion to sit on.
Range Rule: "The front gate lock is not an acceptable target."
Never Forget.
Never Forget.

I visited with him at the NRA convention. While I like a lot of what he says and promotes, I noticed he is not short on ego even a little. He didn't let me get away from his booth without an autographed picture that I have no interest in. Price seems quite high considering the accommodations.

He's just trying make a buck. He has already covered this subject ad nauseam.mojo84 wrote:I visited with him at the NRA convention. You can probably hear the same thing from watching a video, reading one of his books or magazine articles.
But sometimes, like a concert or play, it's more entertaining to see it in person.
Maybe you can sell his autographed picture on e-Bay to pay for the class.

Giving credit where credit is due, he looks a lot better with the goatee than his old copstache.

Even with giving credit where it is due, that's not saying much.bizarrenormality wrote:Giving credit where credit is due, he looks a lot better with the goatee than his old copstache.

Re: Massad Ayoub
Just an FYI.... Wikipedia (you can consider Wikipedia as a reliable source or not) says this about Ayoob:
As far as his position as Captain in the Granthan PD - maybe in the past, but not now:
I know it's not uncommon to have part-time police / fire folks up in that part of the world. They're not reserve, like we have in Texas (unpaid), they're exactly what it says: part-time.He has served as a part-time police officer in New Hampshire since 1972 and holds the rank of Captain in the Grantham, New Hampshire police department.[2]
As far as his position as Captain in the Granthan PD - maybe in the past, but not now:
So, what's that prove? Nuthin. But, if you read his Wiki and if everything is as represented, he seems to have the right stuff to talk about these subjects.Police Department Personnel
Chief Walter A. Madore, Sr.
Sergeant John Parsons
Officer Ryan C.Gamble
Officer Dakota Titorenko-Geary
Officer Robert A. Schwartz (P/T)
Officer Gordon V. Cunningham (P/T)
Officer Timothy T. Julian (P/T)
Secretary Judy DiPadova

He does give good advice and does good work. I don't think his ego completely offsets what good he does and says.

I think you mean he repeats what you read somewhere. Maybe even something he wrote.o b juan wrote:He only repeats what he has read somewher if you have been around long enough
I attended a 90 minute presentation he gave a couple years ago. Mas definitely has an ego. I also think a lot of what he knows is more relevant in the Northeast than the South and I wouldn't pay $400 of my hard earned money to listen to him talk for 20 hours. BUT. I also wouldn't deny his influence on the field of justified self-defense over the past 30 years.
Re: Massad Ayoob Mag 20
I attended this course at RangeMaster in Memphis earlier this year.
I've been carrying for 18+ years, teaching for 3+ years.
I found a lot of very useful information in the 20 hours.
I took 40 pages of notes on my iPad.
It was worth it to me. Your mileage may vary.
