deputies seize Zimmerman's "stockpile"

Gotta love this article... GZ has or we should say had a weapons stockpile and a whole 100 rounds of ammo "rlol" .. In a DV case it would be normal to remove the suspects weapons, and GZ is on bail for said charge.
George Zimmerman was well armed last week when he was arrested for domestic violence ... according to Seminole County Sheriff's deputies who got a warrant to search the home Zimmerman shared with his girlfriend.

According to law enforcement, Zimmerman had stockpiled five guns and more than 100 rounds of ammunition ... including the 12-gauge shotgun his GF, Samantha Scheibe, claims he used to threaten her ... by shoving it in her face.

Well with the current bullet bubble the 1 gun for 20 rounds is pretty accurate...

Can't posses guns is usually a condition of bond for FV arrests and protective orders.

Why did deputies need a warrant? If the GF lives there couldn't she give permission?

TMZ also reports "Deputies also confiscated a pocket knife and a religious pendant."

Depends. If it is an area he solely controls they would need consent or a warrant. It is always better to err on the side of caution then violate somebody's rights. In a DV case the court orders allowing him to bail out would generally require him to surrender all firearms as well.

Warrants are ALWAYS a better route, even if you have a "special case" exemption like exigent circumstances. Knowing this case could go in front of the entire nation, I'm sure they deliberately created every legal paper trail possible.

We are on the same page. I hate when people cut corners to avoid a little paperwork.

We have a herd of nieces and nephews coming in for Thanksgiving. I was locking up weapons in my safe last night (we are empty nesters so I don't normally have to worry about "inquiring minds").

I wonder what would be written about what I locked up last night if it were exposed?

Or maybe a dangerous man with a large stockpile of weapons. Reporters can be clever with words. ;-)

Wow! I can't remember buying less than or only 100 rounds of ammo at a store. They would probably slip into a comma if they knew how much .22lr followed me home today.
