Good Deal for Veterans
I had read somewhere in this Forum that Seniors and Veterans only had to pay $ 70.00 for a CHL.
I initiated my application today, and got a nice surprise.
Seniors are indeed $ 70.00, but I only had to pay $ 25.00 as a Veteran.

Yep. Went into effect Sept 1 IIRC.

Re: Good Deal for Veterans
Veterans should be "no extra charge".
Can't say "free" since you already paid.
Thank you.

How does that work for a veteran?
Send in a copy of your DD214?
Thanks!

Re: Good Deal for Veterans
The DD214 page that has the text as to TYPE of discharge...I sent the wrong page in. I faxed them a copy of the certificate on my wall and that sufficed.Abraham wrote:How does that work for a veteran?

Re: Good Deal for Veterans
Clarifying...
I sent the copy of the DD214 I had but it was the page that stated when and where I served but not how I discharged. It had RE-1A at the top but they don't know what that means I don't guess.
At the bottom of the page, it should say that you discharged honorably...if it doesn't, you need to obtain the page that does.
You can file electronically for copies of your military records. You fill out the application online. They then tell you to print a page out, sign it and fax back to a certain number. I got my copies in the mail in under two weeks if I remember correctly.
Also, starting Sep.1, there will be a 'veteran' designation on your license somewhere...that's cool...

They want the DD-214 that says "Member-4" in the lower right.

Awesome. Also a vet but was set to expire on Sep 2, so I went thru the old process. Will look forward to saving some money in the future though. Can't complain about a lic that cost $5 a year.grnamin wrote:I applied online on 12/04/2013, The "Texas.gov" price was a total of $27.00.

Re: Good Deal for Veterans
I wonder...
If I already have 'Veteran' identified on my TX DL, could that be sufficient proof to the state that I'm a veteran for purposes of CHL?

Always good to hear guys like Aaron Alexis can get a CHL cheaper than Suzanna Hupp.
I believe the basic political division in this country is not between liberals and conservatives but between those who believe that they should have a say in the personal lives of strangers and those who do not.

I hope / I think / I believe...it was an attempt at sarcasm. Unfortunately, it doesn't always translate well in the written word as it does face-to-face.jmra wrote:Obviously bitter about something.RogueUSMC wrote:seriously?...Ameer wrote:Always good to hear guys like Aaron Alexis can get a CHL cheaper than Suzanna Hupp.
