Taurus "View" - It's a unique see-through M85 revolver.

Glancing through gun magazines at the grocery store, I came across a Taurus-produced magazine
which highlighted all their handgun offerings.

The latest thing they are offering is a revolver known as "The View". I don't think it has any numerical model number.

This revolver is basically a Taurus M85 revolver (5 shot snubbie in .38 Special), but what Taurus did was to provide the
right side of the revolver with a see-through Lexan <sideplate? Is that the correct term?>

Taurus said that they worked a long time to develop the exact Lexan formula that would allow the clear piece to
avoid cracking after many rounds.

So you are able to see the trigger mechanism do its thing. This allows people to see how the internals of the gun are
moving.

The gun is a lightweight at something like 10.2 ounces. It has a 10 pound trigger pull. It comes in a silvery finish
or kind of a pink/dusty rose color. IIRC it can use standard .38 Special, but +P or +P+ is not recommended.
Edit added: A post below states that the gun can handle +P.

Taurus is considering other colors for the gun. It may appear that they are going to appeal to the female
shooters, such as jewelled finishes and gold triggers/hammers.

I went to the Taurus website but could not find a link easily. If someone else can post a link, TIA.

What do y'all think about a see-through revolver?

Sounds to me that they have created a totally unnecessary weak link.

I don't "get it" either, but I love the marketing campaign so far!

I think that if you are concentrating on what is going on in the mechanism as you pull the trigger, you are looking the wrong direction and maybe the gun is too.

But I have to agree the ad is a pretty good view.

:iagree: Materials for a crack-proof side plate have already invented - they are called "metal".

I can also envision someone showing off how the internal revolver mechanism works - and shooting them at the same time.

Surely "the view" is not a practical piece? Oh well, gimmicks sell. More power to them.

It didn't work out too well for the S&W revolver locks.
