Best 9mm ammo...

#1

Post by stevie_d_64 »

I'm going to go at lunch today to that store near NASA Rd 1 today...

I have been wanting to get a good loadout of ammo for "Wife Unit's" new 9mm...

I have not had time to get the RBCD stuff I carry normally in my G23, so I am looking to get a good 9mm load for her pistol...

To me, Speer makes a pretty good product, and I use that stuff behind the RBCD I normally load up with...

I was doing some research, and knowing how my wife shoots, which is a consistant C.O.M. (even under stress), and saw three possible candidates for this project...All of these are HP rounds...

115 gr @ 1200 fps

124 gr @ 1150 fps

147 gr @ 985 fps

Bottom line, I was concerned about the energy transfer into a target...And also knowing that 9mm tends to be a fairly "hot" round in some cases...My concern is that there might not really be enough throw weight "punch" into a target in certain situations...

She feels more confident with the 9mm, and since I have not needed to worry about that caliber in some years, maybe somebody could recall something about it that may help me make a decision...Albiet a temporary solution...

I would still think you're as "got" with a 9mm, as you would be with a .40 or .45

I think its shot placement (accuracy) that really matters...

I think that was in another forum...I saw that discussion earlier this week...Sorry "orc"...I do know some first aid for bleeding eyes...Trust me...

And thats what got me to thinking about it...

I finally went with 147 gr "Black Talon" HP stuff...There was a League City and Webster PD guy(s) in the store at that time, who said that'll do just fine, in that caliber...

So we'll give it a go...See how well she shoots it...It went at about $19 for a box of 50...
