edit: My intent/post wasn't clear. Few focused on my OP as being directed towards carrying a reload.
That was not the point of me posting this, my point was Violence IS this & MAJORITY of the time MORE EXTREME. So many times I have read/heard, In this situation I would do this/that. . . . . Having a plan is nice, "can't over prepare", Training is Great as well, but I am focusing on being "REAL". Train outside of your comfort zone, PUSH yourself to be better/stronger/sharper not only physically but MENTALLY.
Reasons to always Carry.
I hear A LOT of people "making" situations & sometimes giving themselves the upper hand in said situations.
We "good guys" do not get to pick when/where/who "bad guys" we could have to defend ourselves against.
So, I am saying. If you can carry: Carry . . . . imho: If you do: Carry a reload. . .
Personally I carry the above as well as edged tools & above all do my best to not get complacent in my daily travels.
What ever you carry, seek training, & maintain at the minimum those skill sets. Anything involving fine motor skills diminishes over time without repetition.
Mindset, Training, being Prepared makes all the difference.

Re: REAL Violence - PLEASE WATCH
Situational awareness is just as important as being armed. SA was so absent in some of these videos that a firearm would not have made a difference.

with JMRA. Situational awareness and evaluating your options are far more useful, far more often, than any other tools in your toolchest. Should these fail and threats become more immediate, the other tools -- and you should have as many as possible at your disposal -- come into play. In the instances shown, few of the victims would have had time to employ a firearm, at least during the time they are shown. They would have needed effective hand-to-hand combat skills and a survival mindset to prevail in these cases.

Re: REAL Violence - PLEASE WATCH
Excellent thread. Self-defense, violent offenders, serious bodily injury, death, survival, tactics . . . they're all abstract concepts until you see or experience it for real. Thanks for posting a thought-provoking video.

Re: REAL Violence - PLEASE WATCH
It's hard to accurately visualize the brutality of a planned attack when reading the NRA Personal Defense Manual or browsing some website. Thanks for posting this, although I was initially shocked by it.

edit/posted this above. On another board, some members focused on my post that I was focusing on carrying a reload . . . not my point.
Here is what I edited above.
edit: My intent/post wasn't clear. I am not stating a reload in any of these circumstances would have changed anything. Most of these encounters seem to be between unarmed persons, both sides.

IMO your edits make it more confusing. Your OP stands on its own merit.SPDGG wrote:edit/posted this above. On another board, some members focused on my post that I was focusing on carrying a reload . . . not my point.
