And for any other last minute hotel reservation makers, as of 10:00 PM last night, the Best Western was fully booked but the La Quinta still had rooms available. Be sure and ask for the rate for attendees at the DPS Academy - the gent that booked my reservation said they also honor that rate ($75/night) for CHL instructor candidates, as well.

See everyone on Tuesday morning!

Well, course is successfully over. It was great to meet n5wd as well as so many other great folks from across the state. Turned out that n5wd and i both graduated from the same college, just separated by a few years.

Already have a small handful of customers waiting to get trained. as well as a few more that have shown interest. just have to get my lesson plans together.

Only real complaint is that Winchester owes me 5 points for the defective primer on one of their rounds. That one makes a total of 3 strikes for Winchester White Box 9mm.

Yep - I think you should be able to get a full refund for that box, Bill. Of course, it sure beats having that overexpanded shell in your gun like one of our relay (#3) had (had to resort to tools to get it out.

And, we had a celebrity in the course for the four days, but I guess only those in the third relay knew about it.

Texas Representative Joe Pickett (D-El Paso) earned his CHL Instructor's License today, along with most of the rest of the 147 of us attending this New Instructor's Course. I say most, because there were a few folks having to continue shooting when the third relay (supposedly the last of the shooters) was released with our brand-new certificates! Hope everyone made it (everyone passed the written, with an average in the high 90's).

Here's Rep. Pickett:
