New application

#1

Post by Rww »

I applied online and never received any further instructions. When I log in on dps website to check application status it says application packet has been received and is in progress. Along with citizenship no documentation required. I have taken the chl class and have the certificate. Do I mail in certificate, money and go get fingerprinted?

Welcome to the forum. Did you pay online? Did you get instructions to print a checklist? Did your instructor cover any of this in your class?

Interesting. When you paid online you should have been given instructions for downloading/printing a checklist with a barcode on it that you send/email to DPS along with all of the required documentation.

Call in the morning or 30 min before they close. That's when I have had the most luck.

I'd go ahead and get fingerprinted so they can have it on file for when they finally review your app. Just gotta be patient with the online status. It took 39 days for mine to even change from "awaiting documents".

Do not think my fingerprints could get "misplaced" due to dps not having a barcode to attach my prints with? That is my main concern

I did mine through FAST so there was no "misplacing of documents." Basically, I scheduled the service online and selected the nearest place to my home that I could. Once I arrived, the whole digital fingerprinting process was like 8 minutes.

Yes, you need to mail your CHL-100. You can do the before or after you get fingerprinted.

Finally got through to DPS on phone. My online application was not processed correctly. They have to void original app out and I will need to re submit in a few days. Will complete online app on Monday and get my prints done Wednesday or Thursday next week..... My instructor was good just had no answer to my question
