Re: Finally
Congrats. Ridiculous wait time though. I'm going on just over 3 months waiting. Ironically my friend did all his stuff two weeks after I did and he got his today; mine still has yet to begin being processed according to the website. The CHL division of Texas DPS is a pretty shoddy operation if you ask me.

Re: Finally
They may not be as efficient in the CHL services but they sure are on the highways. There are actually more DPS cars in the parking lot than what the picture shows, I counted no less than seven. They had just cornered a fugitive that had escaped from them a few days prior to this photo.FormerTSgt wrote:Congrats. Ridiculous wait time though. I'm going on just over 3 months waiting. Fair enough. The CHL services are lacking. Corrected for accuracy.tomtexan wrote:They may not be as efficient in the CHL services but they sure are on the highways. Re: Finally
Took me 92 days last year. I'm encouraged they have the workload. That means more Texans are joining the ranks.

Wow I guess I don't feel too bad. I mailed on 04/07/14 and update says pending background check. This is worst than watching paint dry.The wait continues
Re: Finally
There might have been a slight increase in applications after the class time decreased.

Re: Finally
I know a number of people in my small circle that decided to take the class after the law changed. Has anyone seen any numbers from DPS?C-dub wrote:There might have been a slight increase in applications after the class time decreased.

Re: Finally
They are not "shoddy" at all. They are understaffed and underfunded, but they do a phenomenal job considering their mandate and resources.FormerTSgt wrote:Congrats. Ridiculous wait time though. Have you contacted them as you near 90 days?

Re: Finally
Funny, the other day my ife received a notice that hers was about to expire and that she could renew it online. All of a sudden I kind of wondered whether mine was due to expire soon, and sure enough 06/04/this year. I hunted around looking for a notice and finally found it in an unfiled stack of papers, so I applied online, on 05/01, and got my plastic more than a week ago.

Re: Finally
Applied on May 5, 2014, and checked online and via phone yesterday (6/5/2014). My app is received, waiting for required paperwork. I asked what paperwork. Lady said the paperwork I sent in has not yet been input by data processing and that takes 30-45 days. She said after that the additional processing would be an additional 30-45 days.
