The real reason for gun control.

Post by VoiceofReason »

As much as I hate to admit it, the gun grabbers are not stupid. When the bottom falls out of the economy and society they want to retain control and that will be almost impossible with all the guns in this country.

Then you have those like Bloomberg that straight out want to make a grab for dictator.

It’s coming.

I don't think that's tin foil hat talk at all. We all know that an armed populace is a free populace.

Or as it was said in V for Vendetta: "People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people."

True, but really, just another variation on the theme that gun control isn't about controlling guns, it's about controlling people. They're going to be out of luck though. I recently read an article about the fighting in Bosnia, and when things got hot, people were digging up WW2 German MPs they had buried 45 years previously in case they needed them.

FYI that is not just a "tin foil hat". That is a Tin Foil Stetson. :txflag:

A Texan should not settle for just any old tin foil hat. The Tin Foil Stetson will not only stop mind probes but it will protect you in a hail storm :anamatedbanana .

The stated reason is to protect all of us from violence. 97% of gun violence involves handguns. Most of the government's time is spent trying to get rid of rifles. So violent crime is clearly not the reason.

In fact, it's not just rifles, it's automatic and semi-automatic rifles with higher capacity magazines in calibers that are capable of engaging targets at significant distances.

So..what could 1 million armed Americans do with that kind of rifle that they couldn't do very well with handguns? Whatever it is, the government is afraid of it.

They couldn't possibly be afraid of being overthrown. After all, they are doing what's best for us, right?
One thing is for sure, we wouldn't have beat the British with handguns with them having muskets and cannons.

The handgun can be the means of acquiring a rifle. Seems to me a cannon would be a bit much to carry.

We are moving quickly towards the bottom falling out one way or another. The Federal Government knows exactly what's coming and they've armed every department in preparation for it. Maybe we can dust off the Constitution and enforce it completely after things shake out.
