That alone would keep me from buying one.

I can just imagine people thinking, what a dork...

The ballistic helmet was not first designed to stop bullets. It was meant to provide protection from air burst shrapnel.

The actual area of protection for this hat is not very much. It leaves a large portion of your head exposed. What is the point? Do they think they are going to be exposed to random gun fire at odd times so they need everyday wear protection? I would think more of it if the bill were bullet proof also so if you duck your head, it guards your face a little. I am just not really sure why this would be marketable.

It's marketable to those who wear CHL badges.

Perhaps, the next evolution in stopping bullets would be wearable sand bags...

I just had a funny image in my head of someone trying to stop a bullet by catching it in a hat.

A ball cap is comfortable because you don't notice the weight. I have to wonder how much this will weigh.

I would be more comfortable in a bullet proof motorcycle helmet for all around head protection.

Take a regular ball cap to your local Line-X dealer and have it sprayed. That would probably provide more protection than the bullet safe cap.

If that sells, I think we should invent a ballistically rated visitor badge..........

or maybe ballistically rated belts, or buttons, and then earrings and bracelets and a whole ballistic accessory line.

After all, since you can't fix stupid, we may as well make money catering to it and making it feel good about itself.

Only if you hold your hand in front of it like in the picture.

I much prefer this device:

Maybe that's the real use for it; preventing overpenetration when executing people with a bullet to the back of the head. :confused5

I was actually thinking about buying one of these until you guys savaged it so unmercifully. Think about it. All you have to do is face the BG and look down, and the whole front of your head is protected. If he comes at you from the side, you just turn your head to the side. If he comes from behind, you just spin the cap around and wear it like the rappers do. The possibilities are endless. And I'll take a concussion over a brain shot any day, wouldn't you? I mean, as long as he doesn't shoot you while you're unconscious from the head shot that failed to penetrate, you're good to go. :biggrinjester:
