30.06 in clinics

30.06 in clinics
I don't know if this is discussed anywhere on this site but I need input. I am currently a clinical manager at a large clinical facility that has a 30.06 sign. In this facility, there is a busy urgent care facility (almost like an ER) that services patients that at times can become pretty ticked off, shouting obscenities sometimes threatening. The problem is that there isn't any security in the building just "stat" alarms when we need assistance. When tripped, it takes security almost 10 minutes to arrive. If someone really had a vendetta against a clinic, I am sure they would come after management and with that kind of delay, we would be taken out in less of that time it takes them to respond. I have been a CHL holder for quite a while and know the laws and regulations about the 30.06 in buildings. But I find it tempting to want to protect myself if the imaginable happens. What would you all do in this situation? I am new to this site but have noticed that you all are a wealth of information. Thanks

Welcome to the forum. Assuming you don't have the authority to remove the 30.06 sign there's not much you can do legally. Carrying past the sign would be illegal. Suggesting or promoting an illegal activity is against forum rules.

I don't think we should advocate breaking the law and it's against forum rules to do so. Therefore you need to consider your options.
1. Get another job.
2. Work to convince management they are making people more vulnerable and they should remove the sign and allow employees to carry.
3. Convince them to improve security in your area.
4. A combination of the above.
I'm sure there are other reasonable legal options available. If you do decide to ignore the sign, be prepared to deal with the potential consequences.

I would find another method of protection and become more proficient at hand to hand and disarmament techniques if I wanted to keep that job. Otherwise, I would look for employment elsewhere. Unfortunately, employers are normally reactionary to events and will only provide increased security after something bad has already happened. Thank you all for your input. If a 30.06 is posted at the entrance of the building, is it considered illegal to keep my weapon in my vehicle?

Not at all. The parking lot law passed in 2011 even prevents most employers from having any policy preventing employees from keeping their legally possessed firearms in their vehicles in the company parking lot under most circumstances. If they are unwilling to remove the sign completely, they still have the power to give certain people permission to carry past a 30.06 sign.

Also, not to quibble, is the sign fully compliant with the law?
are the letters 'BLOCK"
Are they 1 inch
Is the word for word to the letter of the law
English and Spanish
If it does not meet the criteria, it does not meet the law and thus invalid
If you find it is indeed invalid, then DONT TELL anyone or they may make if valid!

Good point but I had been wondering if in this large clinic, does the OP work for a clinic IN the building and the clinic is simply a tenant there, or is the entire building leased by the clinic, or does the clinic own the building? Accidents happen. I was just pointing out his job could be at stake if a mistake was made and someone found out. Is that not reasonable?
