Based on what they sell used guns for and transactions I have overheard I dought they give fair value.Dont get me wrong I have bought many guns from them but I have overheard people getting very low balled there.

One example... They have a savage 223 rifle on the shelf it has been there for 8 months. why? Because its used and scratched up and they want over 820 for it. On a bad day you can buy a brand new one for 740. I bought one at the gun show brand new for 690 including tax.

When I say "fair" by no means do I mean what the gun is worth....what I am saying is they pay more than other gun shops around town if you are willing to take a hit and not sell it yourself.

I'm not surprised. A private sale is also the BEST way to buy a used gun. The only trick is knowing exactly what you want and what you're willing to pay in different conditions or configurations. You may run into a few people who don't really want to sell, so be prepared to move on with a polite "no thanks" when they ask 90% of what the gun is selling new at the dealer tables.

AGR Outdoors. It's run by the gentleman that used to run the guns section of Tomball Pawn and he is open, fair, and easy to deal with.

I've also printed in LARGE boldfaced font something like "Ask me about my Remington Model 1100 Shotgun for sale", or ask "Ask me about my S&W Model 41 for sale". Printed it at home and then taped the sign to my back while walking around the gun show.

When selling a long gun, it lets people know that the gun slung over my shoulder is being sold instead of a new purchase. When selling a handgun, that pistol case or gun rug in my hand is for sale, not a new purchase. Generated a lot of people asking.
:iagree:

If you can't sell your gun here for a fair price, then a gun show would probably be your best opportunity. I had my Colt M4 with me when I was looking for a light to mount at one. I probably had close to a dozen people ask me how much I was selling it for. I did not have a sign on or anything that would even hint that I was selling it. I can't imagine what I could have gotten for it if I had wanted to sell it since this was only a few months after Sandy Hook.

Gun stores are funny like that. I bet something that is low demand will get you very lowballed also.

I do agree with trying the gun shows. MUCH more buyers then sellers and the person buying isn't always trying to make a buck on the transaction like a store needs to.
