Recreational Lands Self-Defense Act Introduced
Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence. - John Adams
Re: Recreational Lands Self-Defense Act Introduced
I hope this one states: Holstered firearms may be carried in all public areas (grounds, lobbies, rest rooms, etc.) according to State Law. Restricted areas would be offices or behind counters that have restricted access (doors or gates that must be opened to gain entry). Restricted areas must be posted with a no firearm sign, highly visible to the public, at each entry.

"Under this legislation, rules governing carry on those federal lands incorporate the laws of the state in which the lands are located."

Some of the best news I have heard in awhile. Hopes it comes up for vote soon.

Indeed! We've had MANY heated debates on carry/not carry on Corps of Engineers Land over the past decade. A debate that has never been resolved. And the Corps of Engineers land means lakes in Texas. Lots of them. And confusion reigns. Let's stop this confusion.

Why couldn't the National Park thinghy be amended to include the USACE, TVA and NWS? Aren't all of these agencies operating under the same US government?

Yup. But different Cabinet Departments...different laws, rules, & regulations. Think turf territory.Oldgringo wrote:Why couldn't the National Park thinghy be amended to include the USACE, TVA and NWS? Aren't all of these agencies operating under the same US government?
