When I had an office on the west side of the loop years ago, the most popular place to shoot AKs was the 7-Eleven. With the influx of Katrina refugees the popular spots may have changed somewhat.

Marksman is on HW3, but no rifles other than 22 LR allowed.

At Best Shot Range in Friendswood, we have a 25 meter benchrest rifle range. Shoot ANY Rifle caliber less than 50 BMG.

Most ranges with a place for center fire rifle will allow 7.62. Generally speaking, 50 BMG is usually the upper limit.

When I lived in Houston on the east side of town (off HWY 6) a few years ago I used to frequent a place called Fountain Firearms, and Jim Pruetts Guns and Ammo to shoot at the Westheimer gun range. The best price to be had is still to have some shipped in from AIM or J&G, but if you want local, these are the only places that I know of that sell surplus 7.62x54r.
