Wow, I can't believe its over. After several instances of apparently snatching defeat from the jaws of victory we've managed to pass 2 good pro-gun bills.
Now I know I'm being paranoid here, but how does this board feel about the chances of Abbott signing this one into law?

Thank you Charles and everyone else for all you do, and the information you provide. I am a local university employee that carries at all times other than when I am in my work environment. I look forward to when this law begins. In the interim, I will educate and assist others where I work to get their concealed licenses. (I teach women on a weekly basis and I am a DPS certified CHL instructor). I have learned a lot the last several months following this forum and look forward to being an active participant in the future.

Despite my apparent glumness elsewhere about the details of campus carry bill, I am very pleased this passed also.

In the way J colleges are structured they could implement a handgun handling and safety classTinaMiB wrote:Thank you Charles and everyone else for all you do, and the information you provide. Will there be a post-mortem on all the bills passed and an analysis of what they mean? Particularly interested in knife rights and SB 11's last minute changes.

It is incumbent on all of us to prep the ground for 2017 by continuing and even improving on the track record of responsible carry by law abiding citizens of Texas. We cannot give the Acevedos of the world cause. If we do this right, we give ammo to those who fight on our behalf.
Thank you Mr. Cotton et al.

Not only that, but I think some of us forget how "proactive" we were in college days. Imagine a the blowback when a group of students at UT Austin realize that the the admins at Texas A&M take the view that "our students are responsible and mature enough to handle concealed carry in buildings", but UT Austin admins don't feel that way about theirs...jmra wrote:That's my thought process. I could see students taking legal action.Vol Texan wrote:True that. Because this is stated in the bill (as opposed to the legislative intent), could the courts also use this as a basis if a student feels they have been effectively banned?ScooterSissy wrote:I believe the bill specifically states they cannot create a defacto ban.ELB wrote:So it seems we are not worse off, but the only "advance" is that public universities and schools have to jump through some bureaucratic hoops to ban concealed carry?
