Had a great time with longtooth...

Post by The Annoyed Man »

My wife and I are starting to take short trips around Texas to get the lay of the land, for the purpose of figuring out where we would like to buy land, and ultimately, to retire to. We got a brief look at the northeast corner of the state on Friday, and then we drove southeast from Paris and spent the night in Longview. I called longtooth and let him know we were going to be down his way, and asked if we could meet and visit over a cup of coffee while we were down there. Both he and his wife met us at a gas station in town, and, instead of coffee, we all went out to lunch together. After that we went back to their house..... for coffee..... and ended up spending the night at their house and going to church with them this morning. Then after church, we drove all the way back to Grapevine.

I never actually did get around to looking at the lay of the land too much, but the area around Lufkin/Huntington is real pretty from what I could see through a windshield.

Anyway, longtooth is a great guy and his wife is a peach. We enjoyed the visit a whole lot.

I had an opportunity, a while back, to attend a Wednesday night service with LT and his wife and his mother. They are all very gracious, and I had the best time ever! And boy, can they sing and play!

TAM

My dad and step mom retired east of Lufkin in Etoile (population: more dogs than people). They love the area.
Lufkin seems like a nice town, and it's in the heart of the piney woods. Dad's only complaint is that a new family moved into Etoile ...the town is getting way too crowded.: Dad doesn't get out much. I've often compared him to the uni bomber because of his desire to avoid crowds. And three is a crowd. :smilelol5:

I did as well, for 2 whole days at the TSRA gun show. Had a great time sitting around with him and many other forum members. I miss not seeing him around here.

LT sent me recordings of some of his sermons. I forever respect this man.

He and his wife are doing well. He exists on a primarily vegetarian diet as part of keeping cancer-free, but other than that, he seemed hale and hearty to me. Of course both of us are a couple of old gimps, so..... I didn't get a chance to meet LT's kids, but we heard all about them, and apparently they are doing great. LT's wife seems in very good health.
