That may include a lot of things I don't give a rat's backside about.

You're Baptist, that's fine. I don't care if you leave me alone.
You're gay, that's fine. I don't care if you leave me alone.
You like to sky dive. I don't care. Don't fall on my house.
You don't want to eat meat? Fine, you are stupid, but that just means more for me.
You like to walk around in a wading pool full of Vaseline because you like the way it feels between your toes? Have fun, I don't care.
You want to burn a flag? that's your first amendment right. I will acknowledge and defend your right to political speech. I will not support your flag burning.

Despite people's rabid reactions, what other people do, does NOT really affect my life or my relationship with my wife or family nor does it "destroy society as we know it."

I hear that "gay marriage" has desecrated "heterosexual marriage." Please show me. If a cemetery is desecrated, then I can point to specific headstones and monuments in that cemetery and show evidence of that specific damage. Please show me a single heterosexual, Christian marriage where either party has decided, Wow, gays can marry now, I think I should get a divorce or cheat on my spouse.

You want to limit my freedom to enjoy my life because of your beliefs or preferences? That's when I start caring and will oppose you.

No.

Do unto others as they want you to do unto them. This usually means leave them alone and go about your business. Most people don't want to be done unto at all.

That's all well and good. Live and let live. Should church business offices, schools, colleges, and hospitals be forced to recognize gay marriages with regards to employment and benefits? Will Catholic Carities be forced to adopt out babies to gay married couples...even though Kennedy said marriage isn't about procreation? Liberals like to argue separatation to of church and state until they see a chance to force their state agenda onto the church

people love to talk about separation of church and state and want me to keep my church out of their bedroom. fine, I'll keep my church out of their bedroom, but how about they keep their "state" out of MY church!

you know that the next thing that is going to happen is that pastors are going to be told to either perform gay weddings or their churches will lose their tax exempt status.....now, personally, I'm fine with that. We give up a little bit of $. BUT, we are then able to start being "political". ie, the pastor or whomever is able to say "candidate Mr Smithe believes as we do in these areas, I'm voting for him", among other things.

Since pastors aren't agents of the state I don't see them having to sign off and do gay marriages. But they will go after the church business institutions.

I can hardly wait for people to game the system. Since Kennedy said marriage is based upon a loving commitment between consenting adults and not procreation it seems to me a father/mother could marry his/her son or daughter to get benefits

It is such a 1980's thing that the following just took place in Oklahoma.

Maybe it is a slippery slope. On to Polygamy and to other love interests. I am Christian Male married to a wonderful Christian Woman; but I really like my truck and my firearms. I believe I am Polyamorous; I would like to keep my current wife, marry several of my rifles and especially my Pickup. Shoot they often cost more than what my wife and I currently spend on food and such. Claim all of them on my Income Tax as spouses, purchase others and call them my children and claim the costs as Adoption. When they break down, I can claim medical. I mean, it is all about love, right? Who has the right to define how I define love? But, I would like to control the divorce thing, as I aint for sure how my wife feels about my feelings...
Unless we keep the barbarian virtues, gaining the civilized ones will be of little avail. Oversentimentality, oversoftness, washiness, and mushiness are the great dangers of this age and of this people." Teddy Roosevelt"

On a side note: I really hope NOT to see public displays of affection by homosexuals.

Seeing two guys holding hands or gag, kissing, makes me want to retch.

Or, males dressing in women's clothing in public.

Does that make me homo-phobic?

Nah.

Homo-disgusted...

On the real consequences of the decision:http://www.steynonline.com/7032/going-with-the-flow
These "faith-based institutions" are going to stand against the new state ideology?

Who else? When you read these accounts of apparently sane members of Wisconsin's "public service" and "law enforcement" launching thug assaults with battering rams against the suburban homes of their ideological opponents, would you really want to bet that the full force of the state won't one day SWAT a "homophobic" florist to death? In a deranged culture where the Stalinist blood lust of political correctness is so insatiable that a hit TV show has to be yanked from the airwaves because of the roof of a motor vehicle driven by the characters, how many networks will be willing to countenance anyone espousing "traditional" theology or morality?
