10mm is 10x25mmDoubleJ wrote:so, an XD40 can shoot a 357Sig round, but with a different barrel.
can you then get a 10mm Barrel & Mag and shoot 10mm with it?
would this be the equivelent of shooting +P rounds of 40SW?
oy....
.40S&W is 10x22mm
I don't think 10mm would fit in the XD40 magazine but I guess you could try.

Ballistics will prove that .40 +p ammo cannot match even the lightest 10mm practice loads

I know not about the XDs, but with the Glocks, you can get aftermarket barrels to make the 10mms shoot .40, but not the other way around. 10mm frames/slides need more "beef".

I've actually always been a bit curious about the Colt Delta Elite in 10mm. I'm pretty partial to the 1911 design.

You can usually get a conversion to do .40 out of a 10mm, but not the other way around. Same as the .38/.357Mag difference.

I don't know the specifics of that pistol, but as a general rule, the length of the round would make the 10mm not fit in a handgrip designed for the .40. This was also one of the factors that led to the development of the smaller round. It fit in a 9mm sized frame and smaller hands could wrap around the grip.

I like the 1911 platform too. Look at the Dan Wesson C-bob in 10mm. Beautiful gun. I must own one at some point. The Annoyed Man wrote:I've actually always been a bit curious about the Colt Delta Elite in 10mm. I'm pretty partial to the 1911 design.
40 S&W and 10mm ARE NOT interchangeable. 40 S&W and .357 SIG are interchangeable with a barrel swap.
A few Glocks, a few Kahrs, Dan Wesson CBOB 10mm, Dan Wesson CBOB 45ACP, Springer Champion Operator

Re: Does anyone else carry a 10mm?
I used to have a 1911 Thompson Center 10 mm in stainless.
It was tricked out a little for bowling pin matches.
The thing was a piece of garbage because it just beat the snot out of the frame and slide. I didn't even use full power loads with it (loaded similar to a .38 super). I think I spent more time working on it than I did using it.
I've shyed away from 10 mm's since then but I've alway thought it was an awesome caliber. I would love to find one that held up to the abuse.
