Is it possible she climbed the fence? I've seen dogs do that. She may have climbed her way into your back yard, but couldn't get a good footing on the other side of the fence to get herself out, therefore, getting trapped inside.

Update...

Dawg gone...

At 2am this morning my alarm system (a.k.a.: Dalmatian) alerted me to the activity in the backyard...The Pit busted down about three boards in the nieghbors fence and got through to the next yard over...

We called them to let them know about this for obvious reasons...

I just got home after finding out AC showed up to ask where the dog was..."Wife Unit" proceeded to tell the AC guy, our nieghbor across the street, and the next door nieghbor showed up and was not happy we called them at 2am in the morning about this...And the AC officer asked abotu what we did in a rather accusatory fashion...

Anyway she told them all that if we had to explain why we called them, and we did nothing to allow that dog to escape, etc etc...

With nieghbors like this, we do not need enemies...

If this happened again, I don't think I would change a thing...Except calling nieghbors, or the PD, or AC...I think I would have had better results if I had gotten a hold of a rescue group...

hehehe, I have another rifle I need to clean...Ohhhh goody!

ever feel like you're surrounded by idiots, you're the only one sane, and this has GOT to be an episode of The Black Adder or Monty Python, or you just keep waiting for that buffoon Ashton Kutcher to pop out and yell, "You just got Punk'd!!!!!"
:waiting: oi.
FWIW, IIRC, AFAIK, FTMP, IANAL. YMMV.

Well, the "breed of peace" pitbulls are at it again for those who don't think they are predisposed to attack. 3 attacks in Ft Bend.

Reports of aggressive dog attacks on rise

By LeaAnne Klentzman

The old adage of bad things come in threes played out in reports of pit bull dog attacks across the county.

Sheriff’s deputies and Sugar Land police have responded to three pit bull dog attacks within days of each other. As reported last week, on Friday evening March 21, about 7:30 p.m., Sugar Land police were called to the 14000 block of Greenway Drive after calls about a couple of large vicious dogs running loose in the neighborhood. When officers arrived on the scene they learned that two pit bull dogs were running loose and had attacked a dog and scared playing children. When the dogs were located on the street, one of the pit bulls aggressively charged the officers without reason or provocation said police. That dog was shot and killed. Police notified the owner of the dog’s termination and issued him a citation for allowing his animals to run at large.

The following Tuesday evening another pit bull attack was reported in the Teal Run subdivision near Fresno. In this incident a pair of pit bull dogs got though more than one privacy fence and into a back yard attacking and killing that family’s pet Chihuahua. The next day a woman and her Schnoodle were attacked in Sienna Plantation.

The Sienna Plantation dog attack was the first of these three to have caused injury to a person. Terriann Carlson spokesperson for the sheriff’s department said a woman was walking to the school bus stop to meet her daughter when she and her Schnoodle puppy were attacked. A Schnoodle is a hybrid that is a cross-breed of a Poodle and a Schnauzer. This attack was on a sidewalk on Bees Creek Court in Sienna Plantation. Carlson said, “Upon arrival, two pit bulls were located near a fence and mauling at the corpse of a small black poodle.

She went on to explain that the preliminary investigation revealed that the 34 year old female victim, was carrying her dog in her arms when she was approached by two pit bulls. “The pit bulls began snipping at the poodle, causing her to drop the dog, said Carlson. In an attempt to intervene, the woman tried to pick up her Schnoodle puppy causing the dogs to attack her causing bite injuries to her face, mouth and body. She was treated for her injuries at a local hospital and released. Her puppy’s body was taken to a veterinary clinic by a neighbor reportedly to document its injuries and cause of death.

Fort Bend Animal Control responded to the scene and took control of the two pit bull dogs who belonged to linebacker Steve Foley formerly with the Houston Texans and San Diego Chargers. Because of the biting attack, the dogs are required by law to be quarantined for at least 240 clock hours.

Animal Control officers could not comment on this specific incident but said once the quarantine time frame has expired placement of the dogs is out of their hands. Without specific court orders the dogs will be returned to their owner in this case like any other, said the Director of Fort Bend Animal Control.

Here's an exercise for you: every time you read "pit bull" in a news story, substitute "assault weapon". Then call to mind every time you've seen "assault weapon" used inaccurately in the media.

Ruger 10/22 in a black plastic stock? Lab mix. Highpoint 9mm carbine? Yard dog. "Semi fully-automatic rifle"? Boxer.

KATV (Channel 7, Little Rock) actually put my comments on moderator approval more than 2 years ago for violating their terms of use. My violation? Pointing out that the dog shown in their "pit bull attacks!" story was actually a Rottweiler.

I do not own, nor have I ever owned, any bully breed. I have personally handled hundreds of them, though. I've never been bitten, threatened, nor had one disregard me when I made it clear they were not to eat the other clients' dogs. Even their strong dog-aggressive breeding is subject to the undeniable facts that: A) they're dogs; and, B) dogs respect strong pack leaders.

I also do not own, nor have I ever owned, any "assault weapon" as the phrase is commonly used. I've shot many thousands of rounds through them, both in the Army and in my current employment. I've never yet seen one jump out of the rack and go on a killing spree. Not even with a middle school about 600 yards direct line of sight from our firing range.

True "pit bulls" (there are many pit breeds bred for fighting) are specifically bred to not be aggressive to humans. These gangsta dogs that are attacking people are cross-breeds, often with Rotties, mastiffs, or other human-aggressive guard breeds.

Call them what you will, just don't call them "pit bulls" even if that's the popular term. An AR set up for Palma Matches is an "assault weapon" in the popular vernacular, but popularity doesn't determine accuracy.
