Bill Clinton said "you don't need an AK-47 to hunt ducks".

He's right. Then again, if you can hit a duck with an AK-47, you're a better hunter than I am.

But that wasn't his point, and you know it. He was using that as a justification for banning AK47s. Are you in agreement with his viewpoint in that regard?

I suspect that he was simply quoting Bill Clinton. :biggrinjester:

glbedd53 was the one quoting Clinton. Nitrogen was validating Clinton's statement, which was dishonest because Clinton wasn't talking about hunting. He was talking about banning AKs because you can't use them for duck hunting - which is like saying that screwdrivers should be banned because you can't really use them effectively to drive a nail with.

According to two witnesses, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia took fellow Justice Elena Kagan out for a lesson in skeet shooting at his shooting club in Virginia last week....

More at link.
Maybe Dick Cheney will take her next time. ;-)

Could y'all please give the Cheney comments a rest? :nono: No one would ever confuse me with being a (D) or a liberal, but those kinds of comments are why I mostly avoid the "other" gun boards and spend most of my time here.

I'm with mgood on the baby steps and Nitrogen on not making assumptions, but we've also got to keep both eyes peeled, and not let her sneak behind us to pull any dirty tricks.

Maybe no one can confuse you with being a (D) or a liberal (which I'm glad) ;-) .....but it sure is hard to tell a neoconservative like Cheney apart from them

Hopefully it will be a case of the "foot in the door" effect.

texas1234 wrote:TXlaw1 has a very valid point. In a lot of countries where the elitists have banned guns they still allow guns to some extent for shooting competition activities. At least she went but I can guarantee you its not changing her opinion on handguns or self defense.

Please tell me when you met her, and how long you've known her for! I'd love to get more insights into our newest justice.

EDIT: I get really perturbed when I see people thinking this way. I am proof it's incorrect, and I have myself proven it incorrect 22 times since January this year.

I have to know her personally and be her drinking buddy to know how she thinks? Wow I didnt realize that was a requirement. I just thought extensive research into her background and her continuous public anti-gun sentiments for most of her career was enough. Like her comment in 1996 where she lumped the NRA in with the Klu Klux Klan? Now that I know I have to be personal friends and drinking buddies with anyone on the bench or in office to form a conclusion, Ill just stop my favorite past time of researching the folks leading us off the cliff.

It's not a requirement but it helps if you're not a psychic mind reader.

Why are yall defending Kagan? This is mind blowing!? It really is. She is one of the most liberal anti-gun justices ever appointed and you guys are running to her defense. Just go read about her. There is absolutely no physic ability needed, just go read her writings. WOW!
