They definitely sold them on MCAS Yuma AZ. I bought my first pistol there at the Exchange. A XD .45 back in the Summer of '05 maybe. I remember paying $515 OTD. I'm pretty sure you could have them in base housing too. I lived in the barracks and kept them (shotgun, lever gun and XD) at a buddy's house.surprise_i'm_armed wrote:As a little aside to the XDs discussion:
Since privately owned firearms are not allowed on military bases, I am
surprised to hear that the Fort Hood PX sells pistols.
Do PX's at other sites commonly sell firearms?

Basically meaning you can't have one in the chamber, since you've got a 5-round magazine.C-dub wrote:... Plus, I found out it does qualify as a BUG for IDPA. I just can't load more than 5 rounds in it for a match, or something like that.
Are you sure about that? I'm not. The revolver I ended up using that belonged to someone else was fully loaded. Maybe it depended on the rules for the stage, but there were a couple other guys that used semi-autos and I don't think there was any discussion about not having a round in the chamber to begin the stage with the BUG.n5wd wrote:Basically meaning you can't have one in the chamber, since you've got a 5-round magazine.C-dub wrote:... Am I sure - no, not in the least. You're the one that said you could only load 5 rounds - I guess that could be 4 in the mag plus 1 in the chamber, but I have no idea if that would be legal for IDPA.C-dub wrote:Are you sure about that?
