Please do not try the above theory with 'ahem' men's latex protective devices...we had a sailor on my Navy ship in the 1980's who only had one of the aforementioned items who wanted to use it again. So he turned it inside out and re-used, resulting in a nasty STD infection.

Hey @n5wmkn5wmk wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 10:20 pm I'm surprised that we're not hearing anything about COVID-19 hitting all the homeless/tent encampments along the sidewalks in several cities, to include Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, etc. Given that the severity of the virus is harder hitting to those with underlying conditions - weak immune system, heavy smokers, poor nutrition - you would think this would be decimating to those folks. Unless it is happening, and main stream media isn't talking about it.
I'm also wondering how hard it's hitting North Korea. We're hearing about South Korea, but NK has a lot more free travel with China than SK. I doubt that NK has quality medical care. Remembering the NK soldier that defected running across the DMZ in Nov 2018 - while recovering from his 5 gunshot wounds, he was found to be heavily infested with parasites. My prediction it may take a year or two (if ever) before we learn how hard he general NK population is hit by COVID-19, but I'm guessing it's hitting them hard.
This is definitely history worth catching up on: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Korean_famine

Not sure how trust worthy this information is, but I found it very interesting.

. The current coronavirus disease, Covid-19, has been called a once-in-a-century pandemic. But it may also be a once-in-a-century evidence fiasco.

Yes, I don't believe they intentionally released it. They wouldn't have released it if they didn't have a cure, that doesn't make any sense, also they wouldn't have let it get to Iran, their ally.
I do believe they developed it and weaponized it.
My scenario sort of involves a $2/day employee smuggling out a lab rat or a vial to sell, somehow it gets loose or falls....something like that.

Some Chinese researchers are believed to sell laboratory animals to street vendors after they have finished experimenting on them.
You heard me right.
Instead of properly disposing of infected animals by cremation, as the law requires, they sell them on the side to make a little extra cash. Or, in some cases, a lot of extra cash. One Beijing researcher, now in jail, made the equivalent of a million dollars selling monkeys and rats on the live animal market, whence they likely wound up in someone’s stomach.

The case fatality rate for COVID-19 is still hard to pin down but I've seen numbers float from 2-4%.srothstein wrote: ↑Tue Mar 17, 2020 5:03 pm For comparison, between Oct. 1, 2019 and March 7, 2020, the US had between 36,000,000 and 51,000,000 cases of the flu, 17,000,000 to 24,000,000 of which required medical visits, 370,000 to 670,000 of which required hospitalizations, and between 22,000 and 55,000 deaths caused by the flu.

Considering there's no current vaccination and no herd immunity of any kind, taking the low number of infected of 36,000,000 seems prudent if not conservative.
A 1% CFR gives us 360,000 deaths. 4% ~1.4 million.
Seems about 20% of cases are more than moderate. 7.2 million cases.
5% of cases are critical. 1.8 million.

What lady in what press conference?
The WHO currently is estimating a case fatality rate of 3.4% but that may turn out to be high. Their initial estimate was 2%.
The current CFR in the US is about 1.8% but we just aren't testing enough yet to know for sure.

Dr. at White House press conference. She was asked the mortality rate and said 0.7%.
I calculated the US.
About 43 min in. The .7% was world wide outside of Wuhan, according to her.

That may be her estimate once it's all said and done but that's not the current rate based on known cases. I'd like to know what context that was given by her.
115 current deaths out of 6,508 cases puts it currently at 1.76%.I calculated the US.
