These things are really cool. Only seen them in magazines, but would be great for a "bug out" kit.

They were given to Air Force pilots back in the day, right?

Re: WTB Henry Survival Rifle
Armalite was the original manufacturer of the AR-7 circa 1958.
Then Charter Arms acquired rights to produce it.
Seems like there was one or two others between Charter Arms and Henry.
So it's been a curiosity for 50 years.

Re: WTB Henry Survival Rifle
Are you looking specifically for that gun, or just something similar? Springfield makes the scout that could be used in a similar way, for a bug out bag, or atv emergency kit or something.
Well, they used to, now I can't find it on their web site.

The survival rifle is a portable .22 with a 8 round mag. that comes apart and is stored inside the water proof stock.
basically its a neat .22 you can cary around easily in your pack.

Re: WTB Henry Survival Rifle
I can't find it on the Springer site anymore, but here's a link to some info that I did find. It would be good to have in a hunting truck or camping pack or something. I also remember seeing a kit at one point that enabled you to break down the barrel of a Ruger 10-22 with no tools. For the life of me, I can't remember when or where I saw it.

Actually it's a 10-round mag. I own one, but, as it was a gift from my Uncle, I will not part from it until I leave it to one of my sons.Astro wrote:The survival rifle is a portable .22 with a 8 round mag. that comes apart and is stored inside the water proof stock.

Re: WTB Henry Survival Rifle
Hmm... It is possible I'm mistaken, since I haven't gotten it out and fired it in several years. It is also possible that the design of the mag has changed, as I've had mine for over 20 years, and it wasn't anywhere near new when it was given to me. Still, in terms of current production models, I apologize for the misinformation I was presenting.Astro wrote:Well you must have an extended mag. b/c this link says it comes stock with 8barres wrote:Actually it's a 10-round mag. Re: WTB Henry Survival Rifle
Speaking of survival rifles, I've always liked the M6 Scout. I just recently found out that there are short-barreled versions (14", like the military original) that are registered as AOW, so they only require the $5 tax, not the $200 SBR/SBS tax.
