Holster for Taurus 605

#1

Post by stvnaln »

I am looking for a CC holster, preferably a paddle type for my wife's 357/38 (Taurus 605). She seems to like my paddle holster for my glock 26 and the same for my XD40.
I have researched some brands and found a Fobus TA85 which seems to fit the Taurus model 85 and a couple of other models including the 605.
Does anyone have feedback on this model holster or be able to recommend another brand?

RUGER 22/45 MARKIII
Taurus Ultralite 357/38
Bushmaster AR15OPC
GLOCK G26 w/clipext
I believe in a two hand grip on a cold 40.........caliber that is!

When you say Fobus you get the Loveem & the hateem. There are very few in between. I have had 2 over the years & will never have another. I also do not like paddle holsters. This is my preference & I am first to reply. Consider all that post here w/ their preferences.
YMMV.

I carry a Taurus 651 (spurless hammer) in a custom made Pocket Holster from Garrity's Leather, who also made my Custom IWB for my STI Ranger II and Glock 21SF. I also use a Galco Belly Band when need dictates. In my line of work, these are my preferred methods of carry. However, I also own dozens of OWB slide holsters for my other arms (my favorite style) and it can fit into some of these quite easily--if you want to go pocket holster--there are several makers out there that will fit... For a body hugging OWB Yaqui Style try Desantis or Don Hume--they supply several of our holsters and I really like them.
Bottom line, everybody has a certain style they like--for a snubbie, pocket holster or belly band is the way I like to fly....

Fobus in my experiece is junk.....I have been told that they occasionally produce a holster that works properly, but I would not gamble my life on it to save a few bucks.

Tough to beat comp-tac for whatever your kydex need is.

I've got a couple of Fobus holsters. They've never been too bad for me, but I only used them at our shooting pit, and occasionally while hunting and carrying openly. I tried a Blackhawk Serpa paddle holster and have since switched all my Fobus holsters out for the Serpa. Now, that's all I use when I'm at the pit or hunting. I don't think Fobus are too bad, but in my opinion, there are much better options. I don't think I'd use it as a defensive holster, though. The downside with the Serpa, is that they're still pretty skimpy on models for different weapons. I don't have any experience with Comp-Tac, but they look great, and I'm considering one of those also.

Fist makes most of their holsters available in the 605. They have a large selection of styles, in leather or kydex.
