Minus all the drama, just the cold reality:

I guess we'll see just how good this guy is.

IF he makes it out of this situation, he'll have another excellent entry for his resume.

I suspect he will be ok with the support of his company and the visibility he provides, someone will likely reap some big yankee dollars for his safe release. At least I hope so.

I refuse to travel to Mexico anymore until a whole ton of changes happen.

I agree and I'll add California, New York and Illinois to that list.

Hmm, he was kidnapped as he left a restaurant in Saltillo...I wonder which restaurant it was.

I have spent time in Saltillo. I have walked the streets there at night with only my 5 year old (at the time) daughter with me, and I felt as safe there as I might feel at the riverwalk in San Antonio. It's a beautiful city with low crime, beautiful architecture and a wonderful market downtown.

This sounds like a planned kidnapping to me.

Here's another good reason to stay out of Mexico.

He killed himself in February this year.

Just talked to a buddy deployed to the border. He was trained by Batista. He said kidnapping is a constant problem, everyone from tourists and uniformed security guards who have nothing to do with the drug wars to cops and members of the military. Our Guys are putting some hurt on the cartels, but it's not without dangers you and I would never think of.
