I sent my renewal to Austin sometime in October '08. Finally got the dern thing on June 5th of 2009. Holdup seemed to be that one of the pages of my renewal request had errors on it. (I put check marks, rather than initialing). That was the second holdup. First was for a bad picture. Seems that my glasses reflected light and my eyes weren't clear enough. Each of these infractions comsumed better than 90 days to correct. I called on average of 3 times a month for the last four months. The permit actually expired on Jan4,2009.
I have no real complaint on the errors. But 9 months sure seems like someone was trying to wait for me to die. I am 81 years old and still going strong. Well, sorta strong.
At first, I thought maybe the permit was to be refused because of age. The person on the other end of the phone wasted no time in denying that. All the people I talked to in Austin, were o-so polite. Sorta like a state trooper when he knows he has ya dead to rights. Thankfully, phone lines won't transmit honey or I would still be cleaning it.
But I got the permit. Sure feels good to have Colt Officer .45 on my left hip. Of course, I never carried illegally. Of course not.
Y'all take care.

..really slow CHL renewal
It seems that the older I get, the better I used to be.
Re: ..really slow CHL renewal
I blame the presidential election... it wasn't your mistake... I was part of the reason for the delay... it seemed like the right time to get one...
Makes you wonder what's going to happen, when it's time for everyone currently getting or have gotten a CHL recently, renews...

If my posts sounds like I got a monkey on my back... it's actually a gorilla. Just don't get offended. :)

A heavy workload was officially the reason for the delay. I would like to know how much the applications for CHL's jumped after the election.

Someone had mentioned 30-40k apps last year. But apparently the current apps are already 30k+ and the year hasn't ended yet. I received my CHL from Utah and it was roughly 100 days. So it's somewhat a nationwide issue.dutchman wrote:A heavy workload was officially the reason for the delay. I would like to know how much the applications for CHL's jumped after the election.
