WTB 1911 .45 in DFW (maybe in a few months)

I am looking to purchase my 1st 1911, so maybe around $300-500. I have no big preference except that I would like to avoid Taurus
UPDATE: with my wedding just around the corner, I will no longer be able to fit a new gun into the budget. Maybe in a few months when life has settled down a bit.

You can pick up a Rock Island Armory in that price range, new.

Anyone have a used Springfield they wouldn't mind parting with? I may look at RIA if the price is right, but does anyone know if their slides are forged, or cast?
