Marksman Range (south Houston)

II spent about an hour at this range today. at $8 have the best price of any range in Houston. But toward the end of my shooting there I noticed a sweet taste at the back of my throat that would not go away. I think they need to improve ventilation. How much lead inhalation is too much?

The first qualification I ever did was at Marksman Range, back in 1977. It was old then.

I have my Doctor do a lead level with every blood test, just to keep a record of where it is.

I used to go there quite often and it certainly needs more ventilation.
Whenever I leave all I taste is powder like I been firing black powder guns...
Hands seem to be dirtier also since it seems the powder settles all over you.

I have shot at Marksman and some other indoor gun ranges as well, most of them are pretty old. I now work at The Arms Room in League City, which is a new indoor range (built in 08/2010) and the difference in air quality is remarkable. I spend 2-3 hours or more every day on the range with none of the powder burn taste when I am done.

I agree that regular shooters need to be lead tested at least once a quarter.

I like Marksman Indoor Range because they will allow a CHL instructor to qualify students. Most ranges around Houston I've checked with do not. They will also allow you to practice concealed draw and fire. Very helpful when working with more experienced students.
