The dreaded wait

#1

Post by TAMU_12 »

Well I took my class on Oct 16th and had everything mailed off on the 24th. The last time I checked today it said it was pending my background check. It has been at this step since I checked it on Monday. How long do the BG checks normally take? I had an alcohol related ticket a few years back that was just a class C misdemeanor, but would that slow things down? I can't wiat to get the plastic here! My buddy that took the class with me said his is already in the mail.

Its great to be on this forum! Seems to be a lot of great people and some great info. :tiphat:

Up to 30 days. Probably less. Don't sweat it.

If it helps, I have one class B on my record from my wilder days, and have been FBI fingerprinted for a previous job (which always lead to a "delay" when purchasing firearms). I saw my first update online on October 13, 2011 of BG pending, and it green lit on November 16. It did take longer because the charge had to be cleared by a reviewing technician but it was still less than 60 days...

They might just send it through if it doesn't come up (as some class Cs don't), but maybe not. Lesson is, we are at a pretty short wait time this fall either way.

One piece of advice: Calling wont help inside the first 60 days from your first update, they will tell you to wait the full 60 then call back. You will, however, get to listen to "on hold" music that is not even fit for the elevators of hell.

I suggest reading the massive back catalog of posts here to keep your concealed hunger at bay.

Enjoy your wait, I know I did. :cheers2:

thanks! so it can take up to 30 days or 60 days? i didn't think it would slow it up much since it was a class C and i sent in all the paper work showing that it was dismissed, but i guess we'll see. i'll definitely be looking around the waiting room so i know i'm not the only one waitng.
