Police being investigated for playing "Sweet Home Alabama"

And it was caught on tape.
The police in Chicago are being investigated for playing "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynrd Skynyrd on the radio in their patrol car. It was being "blasted" during a protest march.
Maybe "Sweet Home Alabama" is considered torture in some circles. Didn't US Army play Britney Spears to annoy the detainees in Guantanamo.
Will the last ones leaving Chicago please turn out the lights.

I don't think the comment 'last one out of Chicago turn off the lights' is correct.
At the rate they are going, their power grid will probably fail first, leaving them all in the dark (the same way they are now intellectually).

If the 2nd admendment only applies to muskets and muzzle-loaders, then the 1st admentment must apply only to the spoken or printed word. Printing must be done on hand presses, news stories must be written in longhand, no keyboards or electric processes may be used.

What is wrong with that song? I like it.
It's fine if you disagree. I can't force you to be correct.

Re: Police being investigated for playing "Sweet Home Alabam
In the article it states that the lyrics are often misunderstood as being supportive of former Alabama Governor George Wallace, who was a segregationist.
Thus playing Sweet Home Alabama around black protestors is naturally racist.
Lynrd Skynyrd like most Southern Rock Bands played in front of a large Confederate flag. That would also be racist.
I think most people like Sweet Home Alabama.
These lyrics always puzzled me: Now Muscle Shoals has got the Swampers
Muscle Shoals is a town in the Northern part of the Alabama where there is a large TVA project. But who are the Swampers? An article a few years ago solved my puzzlement. The Swampers are a group of talented studio musicians who played back up on tons of great hits.

BTW the Illinois legislature just passed a bill preventing secret recording of just about anything. Both parties must know of the recording for it to be legal. Penalties are quadrupled, if the secret recordings are of police or judges. The bill is so vague, that it may prevent police officers from doing any recording such as body cameras. It will certainly scare any normal citizen into not recording the police under any circumstances.

Below is the list of songs played to the captive terrorists as part of the torture conducted by the CIA, that was released yesterday by the Democrats. Sweet Home Alabama was not one of the songs.
Barney & Friends: theme song
Metallica: Enter Sandman
Meow Mix: commercial jingle
Janeane Garofalo/Ben Stiller: chapter from the Feel This Audiobook
Sesame Street: theme song
AC/DC: Shoot to Thrill, Hell’s Bells
Bee Gees: Stayin’ Alive
Tupac: All Eyez On Me
Christina Aguilera: Dirrty
Neil Diamond: America
Don McLean: American Pie
Matchbox Twenty: Cold
Prince: Raspberry Beret
The Meow mix commercial over and over again really could get annoying. I know that would cause me to tell all the secrets I knew.

Barney was super popular when my daughter was little. The theme song made me want to commit homicide on a purple dinosaur. I am sure if they played the song over and over for the Grand Jury they would find my shooting justified. LOL
As for Sweet Home Alabama, that song just makes me want to dance like Forrest Gump.
As for right or wrong, if the song choice was truly made on a racial basis, then they should be punished.

If they were serious about torture, they would loop the What's Happening theme Song.

Stay'in Alive would just make be think of the movie Airplane and laugh.
But then I don't think the call to prayer stuff sounds good so different cultures.
If they did that to Americans, they could play a bunch of Indian music, or even Indian music videos.

Police Officer will be punished for playing Sweet Home Alabama. No word yet from Al Sharpton on whether he will protest, and demand the officer be fired.
