First weekend carrying; ordered new holster
I spent a lot of time carrying this past weekend with my fresh license! It was a good experience overall; but, my holster/belt setup became a little aggravating. Everything seemed fine carrying around the house while I was waiting. In the real world, where it's less practical to make adjustments, I found I need something better.
So, I bit the bullet and just ordered the Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.0 and the belt to go with it! Anyone using this rig? I'm really hoping it lives up to the hype...

Just remember that hybrid holsters have to 'settle in' to where you carry it. It usually takes about two weeks of regular carry to get it broke in to my experience. Your body heat and sweat make the leather form to you.

A buddy of mine has one for his S&W M&P Shield 9, and he absolutely loves it.minimalist wrote:I spent a lot of time carrying this past weekend with my fresh license! Re: First weekend carrying; ordered new holster
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind when I fit test it. I think the belt is actually what I need more. My current belt isn't very stable when loaded and tends to twist, so I have to wear it overly tight. I'm also not happy with the retention on my current holster(s). being able to adjust it will be a big plus I think...

A quality gun belt is a necessity!minimalist wrote:Thanks, I'll keep that in mind when I fit test it. I think the belt is actually what I need more. I use Alien Gear everyday, most comfortable for me. Have one for 9mm and another for 45, and yes a good belt helps.

The belt makes a bigger difference than the holster.Flightmare wrote:A quality gun belt is a necessity!minimalist wrote:Thanks, I'll keep that in mind when I fit test it. I have the cloak tuck 3.0 and I love it. Ever since I started using it my wife and kids don't even realize I carry anymore.minimalist wrote:I spent a lot of time carrying this past weekend with my fresh license! Re: First weekend carrying; ordered new holster
I sold my cloak tuck 3.0 because i had a hard time making adjustments once the holder was in place. The holster has great reviews and does work with most folks, I just wasn't one of them. I use a Warthog QuickTuk, very easy to put on and stays put, but also easy for me to make small adjustments when I'm entering/exiting my vehicle. I like Alien Gear Gun Belt though, its been holding up well with everyday usage.

Re: First weekend carrying; ordered new holster
I have both the IWB and OWB versions of the Alien Gear.
I also have several other traditional Leather/Hybrid combinations (Max Tuck, Crossbreed, Comp-Tac and several more).
my 2nd or 3rd holster 6 years ago, was the Crossbreed and was my favorite for many reasons.
Last year, I bought the Alien Gear and it is my go-to holster now.
Love it!

Re: First weekend carrying; ordered new holster
Nice. I modified my order yesterday to add the cloak mod OWB holster as well. They have a deal for the 2 holster combo AND $15 off a belt if you get a holster. So, you can get a pretty good deal on an already inexpensive setup if you get it all. The only thing it's missing is a way to carry a reload...Teamless wrote:I have both the IWB and OWB versions of the Alien Gear.

I got the mod OWB as well, two is always better than one. I have not gotten the belt, please let us know how you like it.minimalist wrote:Nice. Re: First weekend carrying; ordered new holster
I don't have experience with their holsters, but as far as the Alien Gear belt, I have two of them, and don't see how anyone can get a better gun belt.
