Interesting...if you hover over the globe (next to FL, SC, & GA) you can see international responses:
84% Yes
16% No
(2,327 Votes)
I'm actually surprised to see the international "No" votes as high as 16%.

Questionable CHL Students...
Hey instructors! Got a question for ya...
I've been seriously considering becoming an instructor and was wondering what circumstances you've encountered where you've had serious concerns about a particular student and how you handled the situation.
For example, when I took my CHL class there was ...

Re: Sight Picture/Target Alignment Question...
RPB...thanks again for the great information.
The diagrams you provided were right on with respect to my problem...jerking.
A few days ago I discovered an AWESOME exercise where I practice with only 3 rounds in the cylinder (the SP-101 has a 5 rd. capacity). I look away while I spin the cylinder ...

Re: Sight Picture/Target Alignment Question...
Thanks RPB!
That is exactly the type of information I was looking for! Like I said, I've been pretty certain that it was a technique issue (isn't it always), I just couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong.
BTW...if anyone can recommend a good instructor in the DFW area, I would be very ...

Sight Picture/Target Alignment Question...
About 3 months ago I purchased a Ruger SP-101 (.357) from a buddy who let me try it out. It was like we were made for each other (total "love at first sight/shot!") I love that gun! So far, I've put about 300 rounds through it and I've gotten to the point that I can easily create 4 - 6 inch patterns ...

Re: August 2011 Applications
Well I called back like the guy last week told me too and the guy who answered today said that my prints haven't showed up yet and that to give it three weeks for the issue to be resolved. I think I am in for a LOOOONG wait. :totap:
I assume that you are referring to calling a DPS guy. If so, I ...

Re: August 2011 Applications
Yeah...it's almost been too quick (although I do consider myself to be a pretty stand up guy!).
Don't worry, I won't take anything personally! Knowing how long some people have waited, I was a little hesistant to even post the progress of my app. But it's actually just a couple of days shorter ...

Re: August 2011 Applications
Here is what was displayed on the DPS site and when it went from "Yellow" to "Green" (i.e., completed). You should, at the very least, be able to see all of these steps. They should just be displayed as incomplete or under review. Seems as if DPS feedback/progress is pretty inconsistent.

Re: August 2011 Applications
Hey guys/gals...another August applicant here. Thought I would join you and provide my timeline for everyone else that is also waiting.
So far...my app has flown through the system. Mailed the paperwork on Aug. 8 from Dallas and the DPS website indicated on Aug. 19th that my license had been ...

Re: Replace Self Defense Ammunition
A total cliche but...
Firearm....$500+
High Grade Self Defense Ammo...~$30 per 20 rounds ($1.50 each; a high estimate).
Your life....Priceless.
Lets say that you are super paranoid and cycle through three 20 rd. boxes per year, you are only investing about 25 cents per day on your own protection ...

Re: High School Sporting Event Question
Consider your statement "only roster students that attend the school"...and the use of the term "interscholastic" within the law.

Re: SA vs. NSA Reciprocity
Perhaps I should clarify...I'm not concerned about restrictions with respect to the carry of a SPECIFIC TYPE of firearm in other states (after all, I opted for the NSA class license).
The term '"reciprocity" refers to the recognition of the license itself. I am more concerned that the Texas NSA ...

SA vs. NSA Reciprocity
Within Wikipedia's article on "Concealed Carry in the United States", it states that "NSA-class permits are severely restricted in reciprocity." Is this true?!?!?! I have yet to find anything online that backs up this claim. It's got me a little worried because I am currently awaiting arrival of my ...
